Maybe some of the other teams gets to use it (softball, soccer, etc.) to cut down on hotel bills on road trips.

The monthly "Why Veazey is a ****** Beat Writer" thread is in full swing over there.

But he improved a lot over his first year and now does a very good job. He's fair and presents everything in as positive of a light as you could ask someone in his position to. Any criticisms of him over the past year or so are completely off base. We're lucky to have good beat writers at both the Jackson and Tupelo papers.

I completely agree. I think Kyle works his *** off to provide us with good info and I've been a big fan of Ellis for a while now. I don't know if you've seen the thread currently on Gene's, but they're bitching because they think he's brought up the Brown/Johnson incident too often lately. Is he supposed to ignore an incident that cost us 2 of our 4 best players?

especially with these blogs they are doing. We are currently getting more info than ever before and it's thanks in large part to both Veazey and Ellis not just having a blog but updating news as they receive it. What I consider a good reporter is someone who tells me what's going on as soon as it's available with no spin on it one way or another. News is news. It's not their job to put on a maroon blazer and ring a cowbell every time they write a story. The sheep will never understand this about journalism.</p>

Haven't seen this specific thread, but I've seen others like it. Apparently, he's supposed to print it once in the agate type page of the paper and then never mention it again. I know they got pissed when he mentioned it when the 3rd player involved enrolled at Memphis rather than pay his own way at MSU this fall. Guess what guys, THAT'S F-ING NEWS! And guess what else, anytime you're discussing our upcoming season, the fact we'll be missing two NFL-caliber players has to be mentioned, because it's going to have a serious impact on how the season goes.

...Kyle is light years ahead of Ellis. News typically hits his blog first, he is more thorough, and he is a better writer. Ellis is about right for a paper in a town the size of Tupelo. KV is very good, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a bigger job at some point.

than just being the MSU beat writer, so I give him a pass on not getting info on his blog as quick as Veazey does. But I do agree that if I had to choose between the two (say if the Jackson and Tupelo decided to share one beat writer like the Jackson and Hattiesburg papers do with USM now), I'd choose Veazey. Ellis is good, but Veazey is a little better and works his *** off from what I can tell.

This could be good for recruiting endeavors. Recruits, some hunnys and drink mixing station.

its pretty damn cool. You watch and think "how the hell does this sleep 20+ people" and then the Mayor gives a demonstration.
