We’ll be fine. This is the new normal.
Don’t panic. One website has us listed as the #1 transfer destination for players in the portal. That means nothing. But we’ll do fine and we’re going to lose players each year. It’s more important to hire the right OC than to just get one.

Or we are going to get killed in the portal. Current players and players that might want to come here need to know who is going to be running our offense next year. Better get it done, or we are going to get smoked.
Same song and dance every year.
You have to wait until people coach their bowls before you steal them away.
The portal closes January 18. Well over a month away still.

This post has been flagged for making entirely too much sense.

This is the new normal. Every time a good contributor joins the team, a good contributor is leaving another team.

It's not going to be a one way street going forward. If anything, it's only going to get more hectic.

We need the right OC when he becomes available. Made the mistake of hiring Satterfield in a rush 2 yrs ago. Trusting Beamer on this as he has learned from experience.

Yep, a rash move rarely works out.

Lots of D1 teams are currently trying to build staffs. And Recruiting the best coaches when there is plenty of competition isn’t one of Ray Tanner’s strengths. In fact the guy has control over it and I think is a hinderance. I hope he isn’t still hiring on the cheap to make up for the losses he caused on his botched Muschamp hire.

I’d imagine Coach Beamer has the best interest of the program in mind, with the hire. He’s an excellent recruiter & his staff (now That Coach Satterfield is gone IMO), is one of the better in America. Coach also has a really good feel, in terms of, what they go after in the portal. Has landed some pretty damn good ones thus far. it’s gonna be a way better OC than what we had.

I wasn't suggesting a rash move. But we have seen how this goes when it drags out. Exactly how we got Muschamp. We should know who we want by now. Pull out the checkbook and lock him down before other suitors come calling. No advantage at all to waiting.

If not, hopefully there is a gentlemen's agreement behind the scenes that will hold up until everyone is ready to execute. Beamer waited to come to here until after his bowl game with Oklahoma. Maybe he is giving the same consideration to his target. Not ideal with the portal open and teams already going after players, but if it is the only way to get his guy, then it is what it is.

I am in the camp to take one's time to get the right man. I believe a Head Coaching vacancy is infinitely more important as it pertains to recruiting, But even then, getting the right man is more important than recruiting. If you make a bad hire, you are stuck time-wise and financially. In today's college football world, a player available today, might be available again next year (example: Austin Stogner).

There were none....ZERO! And Tanner doesn't choose the assistant coaches, the HC does. Tanner, the President of the University and the BOT all have to approve the contract of any coach contracted for more than one year.....Tanner has never been the hang up on that end.

It may help you in the future to understand how the hierarchy at the University works.
