We won’t win an SEC contest with this run game

Might as well get used to that. We can't open holes and we don't have a true tailback right now. I'm guessing we'll see the true freshmen if he's any good at some point.

Yep. Five or maybe 6 win ceiling unless something drastic happens. Still scratching my head why you play another good opponent to open the season. This is frustrating to watch.

I knew it was going to be a real bad year.
Every time for the last 55 years you hear how good we look before the season starts we end up with a losing season.

Truth is, we had a ton of question marks, but for some reason, those were overlooked by a lot of people.

I mean, come on, Joyner at RB? That had disaster written all over it, but you had some posters on here talking him like the next Barry Sanders.

What reason was there to believe the OL would take any serious step forward?

I agree. We have some help coming in recruiting the next couple years on the lines, but it's going to be 2 really long years before that happens

It’s been this way since Marcus

We did have Mike Davis and Kevin Harris rush for over 1,000 since. What’s remarkable is that Marcus was the first 1,000 yard rusher since Harold Green if I remember correctly. Not even Brandon Bennett or Duce got to 1,000.

Not much to brag about in the run game over our history.

To that I say.. If Deon can make it happen during a single off season in Colorado. Beamer should be able to here.

Deion got Travis Hunter to go to Jackson State. Beamer has a hard time getting that type of player to come here. When it comes to recruiting, Beamer is not Deion. Not sure anyone is like Deion. He’s probably the most unique situation in College Football that we’ve seen. Beamer cannot follow the Deion model.

And guys, Colorado won 1 game and we lost 1 game. Still a long way to go.

Two completely situations and scenarios, Beamer doesn't have the arrogant, Prime-Time personality that those kids are attracted to with Deion. But Colorado isn't on top of the world yet, what happens when adversity hits, and it will.

Would it be better to open with Furman, get an apparent "big" win and then get destroyed by the first decent team on the schedule?

Don't we make fun of the ACC for being a weak conference?

Didn't watch the game, and wasn't on the board during it. Came to check in on the gloom and doom, and wasn't disappointed.

Beamer’s off-season decisions made it sound like we were abandoning the run game completely. Completely unknown OC hire, terrible OL and RB portal recruiting.

I like Beamer, but this is on him. And it was avoidable. I’m praying he figures it out. His teams usually get better in time. But this schedule is ROUGH.

Opposing teams are not even going to have to play the run against us.

ALL we needed was enough of a run game that the defense at least had to think about it.

If you can stomach, watch a replay of the game. You'll 7nderstand the doom and gloom then.

He felt REALLY good about Diggs coming…REALLY good. Now Diggs is buried on the LSU depth chart, and we’ve got nothing.

Because the fans want it. Are you excited about the upcoming Furman contest? I'm not.

Mario can create a hole where there is none. That’s exactly what we need. I wouldn’t judge our backs until we put at least one more tight end on the line.

We’ll see how good our coaches are. Can they gameplan around a known absent run game.

I don't think any coach can game plan around being dominated on the LOS. If the opponent knows you can't run, they can bring a blitzer or two on every down and take away the passing game. If Rattler is being chased he has one half of the field taken away from him. If the pocket is collapsing he has to get rid of the ball or take the sack. Not being able to run the ball is a death sentence against an opponent who is remotely close in talent.

On SEC Now, they said the game changed once the UNC DC realized dry early on that we couldn’t run the ball. They didn’t say that we could run the ball well or couldn’t run it effectively…said we couldn’t run the ball. Period.

Can you imagine how his face lit up on that first drive after he saw our OL?

Pitch it the Joyner and give him some pass options to keep the defense more honest. We tried it on the first play and never tried again. Running between the tackles doesn’t look like an option at all. QB draw with Rattler and maybe some wildcat with Joyner is the only running game we will have anytime soon.

The line has to give them a little time to do that though. The reason it didn't work on the first play is because they were in our back field instantly.

I guess we need to design some quick pass plays. Burn them with some quick short passes and that should force them to ease up a bit.

There is a game plan for defensive blitzes. I still remember LSU destroying USC in a bowl game. I think it was a Joe coached team. Opposing coach said-If you live by the blitz, you die by the blitz.
Didn't really feel as if GCs were gonna win but down by only three at the half should have made some adjustments. If a team's QB plays the way SR did, there is no excuse for losing the game.
