No doubt, over the last 10 years:Nice. We have gotten more commits from Florida in the last several years, than in the previous 30-40 years combined.
Willie Smith was on the late 1990s teams. It has not been a lot of great talent out of FL for PSU over the years. Rich McKenzie came out of Ft. Lauderdale as an AA Linebacker in the late 1980s/early 1990s. He was good, but was always in trouble. No doubt, over the last 10 years:
Jordan Minor
Judge Culpepper
Noah Cain
John Dunmore
TJ Jones
Kevone Lee
Caziah Holmes
Cam Miller
Zane Durant
Jon Mitchell (assuming he enrolls)
The problem has been getting them to stay. Thus far, every one of those guys has transferred out (Minor, of course, never suited up due to injury/health) - remains to be seen on Miller, Durant, and Mitchell.
The last FLA kid to actually stay at PSU was Omani O, from the 2014 class.
To your point though, prior to Omani, who was the last FLA kid? John Wilson, the big OL? 20 years ago?
Aside from Omani. the last FLA kid to make an impact? Wasn't there a pretty good LB on the mid-90s teams? Can't recall the name. But it has been a long time.
EDIT: Was it Willie Smith? Any since then?
Yes. There was a little stretch there where PSU had some high-end contributors from FLA.Willie Smith was on the late 1990s teams. The only one of real note to me was Michael Timpson, who came out of the Miami area, although he missed the 1986 championship season with injury if I recall.

Have to begin the pipeline somewhere. By most reports, this was the staffs #1 Corner target.
