I know very early, but several models are now showing a potentially major snow event for Mississippi next Tuesday/Wednesday. What do our experts think?

Not a weather expert… but I predict a run on bread, milk and toilet paper (still don’t understand why we have runs on toilet paper), schools will be cancelled…. And we will get nothing but a cold rain

Weather Channel shows next 10 days in Starkville with high at or above freezing every day except 1 and 7 of those days have hi in the 50's or 60's. Those 3 cold days beginning of next week show the highest precipitation percentage at 24% so sounds like the grocery stores are putting out the bad weather news hoping everybody will stock up.

I know we are not supposed to spread rumors but a guy(in2thinair) on X posted a picture of a forecasting model, could not tell which model, showing central Ms with 17” of snow next week. I don’t believe that but some other model is showing 8”.

Would really like to know about Tuesday because I have got to travel all over central Ms. for work!

Still a ways out and Spann is really the only one I've seen acknowledge it yet. However, there are some models that show MS Delta through Birmingham getting several inches with a potential significant ice storm Meridian south. Again, a long way out but more and more models are starting to point to this.

I've now heard this several places as well, but weather underground isn't showing much of anything yet. What's the deal there? I picked one of my favorite North Central MS cities at random:

The Euro has been showing a storm next week but then the next model run it shows nothing. It’s too far out to get any idea of what could happen. It’s definitely going to be cold.

I've started watching "Max Velocity" on YouTube for weather. She's a lot more pleasing to the eyes than he is but I bet her arms and hands are bigger than his, and there is that little point on the elbow closest to us.

Regarding models, anything over 24 to 48 hours, you'd be better off using witchcraft. The models changed so much after a couple of days. The best forecast is gonna be cold, and it might be wet.

The models are trying to come into a consensus last couple of runs. We know we will have the cold air. The question is if we get a gulf low to develop. If it does then that takes care of the moisture. The next question is its track. That will determine how much moisture gets wrapped into the cold air and where which determines who gets nothing, who gets flurries, and who gets dumped on. Several of the ensembles are starting to show impressive snow totals. Some very impressive. Just got to wait and see how it all shakes out. Way too early to tell now.

That's pretty much what the local TV mets and the NWS are saying for us as well. Maybe a little colder than what we just had, but no mention of precipitation yet except this weekend and that's rain. Huntsville apparently went on a buying spree after being locked down for a week last year. Went from 4 or 5 snow plows in the city to 35 now, 20 of which are bumper-mounted on pickups. Don't know about ALDOT (they are responsible for state and federal roads, even in the cities) but even they did a good job last week here.

Yeah, I think most of the TV mets nowadays went to State. There's a gal on Fox Weather that went to State, and I think was on the Tupelo station for a while. Haley Meier. That picture of Kelly Cass is probably about 20 years old.
