Ray Tanner needs to be restrained and made to watch each grand slam given up by our pitchers this year over and over
The man could have stayed at the helm of the baseball program another decade. Won another couple of titles. Then retired & be considered one of the top 5 all-time. Why he wanted to leave that position & be the AD is beyond me.

Probably a combination of some of the below + more

Some people get to the early 50's and want to switch it up
Thought he would do better at bring a AD then he actually did or thought it would be easier, etc.
More money, I think he was making $510K as a base salary as coach and as AD, it increased to $675K and then or course got a bunch more increases along the way.
Wanted to give Holbrook a chance to be the HC.

Sickening. The man had a national legacy he could have achieved. I still recall Lopez, in the pre-final series presser in 2012, calling the CWS the "Ray Tanner Invitational." No telling what all we could have done in the years to follow.

He was simply done with coaching. Ready to move on.
