Because he's slower than shlt. He can't block DEs, particularly SEC ones. He's not athletic enough to play there. And how do I know this? Well, you answered that. He's played there before and it hasn't been pretty.
I guess we will see how it works out

A 6' QB throwing to a 6' or shorter receiver means he's either going to have to get outside the pocket or there's going to be a Moses-like parting of the Red Sea in the middle of the line. Otherwise the trajectory of that throw is going to mean a lot of batted balls.
That’s a pretty ridiculous take given the fact that Kevin Coleman was 4’6” and finished with 75 catches while playing 8 games with a QB that couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn from 15 yards in.

Depth is much better. Not many “stars” that we know of yet.
What do you base this on? On3 transfer portal rankings aren't quite as rosy as the 247 rankings that only look at income players. We lost three 4* and 26 3* players with an average rating of 68.50 and brought in 3 4* and 26 3* with an average rating of 68.09.
Sometimes when you have a lot of "depth" its because your starters suck too so no one can separate from the rest.

That’s because it means zilch to be a 4th or 5th year player when its your 3rd or 4th school.

And in the SEC, 4th or 5th year player simply means “not good enough to get drafted”, except for QB position in certain cases.
Exactly. Immediate eligibility after transferring has changed the sport.

Back in the Mullen years, Alabama's depth chart was mostly sophomores and juniors (too talented to have many seniors). State's good teams were fourth and fifth-year players (not high NFL potential but a lot of college experience). That's why this depth chart looks like a peak year for Mullen (just looking at the classifications).

We have more playable backups. Not saying we have a bunch of really good studs but we have guys in back up roles that have played P4 ball and have P4 bodies. Last year we had the Paka kid or however you spell his name then true freshmen and no one else on DL basically.

Did some of yall expect new players to magically appear?
I assume people are like me and checked out and were hoping that we were going to look and be pleasantly surprised by what Lebby has done since the end of last year as far as bringing in new players and building a depth chart.

Is what we were hoping for really any more likely than Lebby finding a lamp, rubbing it, and having actual magic at his disposal? Maybe not by much but surely it's slightly more realistic.

We do? I mean we did sign a couple of guys, one who played a little for a bad Virginia team and a LB that played some for Tennessee (maybe our best transfer in). But we brought in a lot of G5 guys, many of whom weren't ever starting in G5.

Did we really have a player who was 4'6" ? I think not...speaking of ridiculous takes.

We did a really good job bringing in defensive players all things relative. Looking at a depth chart after several months wouldn’t tell you much regardless

I’m amazed at the amount of people in this thread that are clearly going to get their feelings hurt by this team. You can tell some want to try and act like this team will be better.
I'm trying to explain. We will feel this sick feeling after a very ugly win in Hattiesburg. Then an even more narrow win with NIU. Maybe an injury that game. And those two games are going to be the highlights of the season.

Who is our best OL then? Not being a smart ***. Genuinely don't know **** about our OL and looking for any potential bright spot that isn't pure sunshine pumping.
Obviously it's one of the guys that did not win a trophy for the best college offensive lineman in the state of Mississippi. The correct answer ftom this crew is probly Saqoun Miles. And Coleman was listed at 5'11" 181# but these under 6 foot receivers will definitely suck. And why won't you be a smart a$$ ??

I’m done being a wet blanket for now because it’s too close to the season for that, but yeah… there’s going to be a lot of disappointment around here by mid-season.

There is an ocean of disparity between the talent level on this roster and at least 13 other SEC teams

Unfortunately, there is an ocean of disparity in the coaching too.

The helmet news and the new light videos have me pumped up. My brain has tried to explain to my heart that neither of those things makes a team more talented. My heart told my brain to shut its ***** mouth.

Hopefully this is just us keeping our cards close to the vest, unless of course you are pumped up for another year of Hunter Washington and Albert Reese.
If you look at the next page after the depth chart in the game notes, you will see that Albert Reese is listed as the starting right guard, Jimothy Lewis is the Left Tackle:

I assume the 13 players listed are for different sets: 2 backs, 4 wide, or empty backfield...etc.

Here is the defensive page, the biggest differences are Jahron Manning is listed as the starter at the 2nd safety spot, not Hunter Washington, and Jalen Smith is listed as a starting linebacker over Nic Mitchell. These changes (with the offense ones) pretty much answer all of the complaints from today's thunder & lightning show except for some of the defensive line ordering that they brought up. The defensive line ordering might be as much rotational as anything else, i.e. who they feel complement each other.
