Man, so stoked to have Trav back home! Really feel like we’re catching a young, hungry Gamecock on the upswing of their career. I think we’re going to see our DL play with a mean streak like we haven’t seen in a while.
Not if we have a spot. Yesterday was the deadline to enter without sitting a year but we can still add if we have room. Not many players have moved on so we only have a few spots. Need RBs bad.Is it too late to get a good Edge out of the portal?

Agree with this. We at least have bodies at DE. Getting Strachan back is big. Dawkins has at least played at the P5 level at NCST, and getting him back to 100% is big too. We have one player at RB who has played the position, and he’s not an every down back. With Ratt, the WRs, TEs, and OL we’re building it should be appealing to a RB looking for a change. We’ll see how it shakes out.Not if we have a spot. Yesterday was the deadline to enter without sitting a year but we can still add if we have room. We’ve been near the bottom of the league in rush D, sacks, and TFL in Beamers first two years. Not a good look for the DL coaches. A little puzzling why LSU would want him, but good for us.I'm happy to have him back in the fold, but I do hope we are not hiring him just because he's a former Gamecock.
As noted in a previous thread, our run defense was pretty shabby last year, so we can definitely upgrade and can't get a whole lot worse.
I'd have to assume it's because he previously worked with LSU's DC. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense for the reasons you mentioned. We’ve been near the bottom of the league in rush D, sacks, and TFL in Beamers first two years. Not a good look for the DL coaches. He’s being hired because he was a damn good defensive lineman, he has coaching experience now, and he played in the NFL for four years. I’d say that’s a résumé anyone would look at and him playing at his alma mater is a plus. He kicked butt for us and I will take 50 like him. One of my favorites……so not only welcome home….glad he’s home!!!I'm happy to have him back in the fold, but I do hope we are not hiring him just because he's a former Gamecock.

And we know he was coached by a damned good DL coach….had to have learned some things from Lawing.I get it. There's just always a rush by some in our fan base to bring back former players as coaches, though in many cases they have no credentials. In this case, Travian does have some credentials. I just don't know if he'd have been on our radar were he not a former Gamecock. As it is, he is and he's got the job and I'm happy to have a familiar face back. He played on some stout defenses, so he will not take kindly to having the 117th ranked run defense in the nation. If he's got the coaching chops, combine that with his pride in being a Gamecock and it could be potent.
Hopefully he is better than Tanner at keeping an active list for just such an occasion. That hire happen quickly! I wonder how long Beamer had been in contact with him before all of this went down with Lindsey.
You mean the short list?Hopefully he is better than Tanner at keeping an active list for just such an occasion.
I'll say this. Lindsey bounced around FCS for 14 years before finally getting a chance at Western Kentucky. TR actually played at the highest level before going into coaching. And his ascension was much quicker. That's usually an indicator of perceived coaching ability. He spent one year in FCS before putting up really good results at two FBS programs. I'd much rather have that scenario than Muschamp's "let's just hire SEC retreads that have only performed well at shingle schools" approach.I get it. Must be counting on him bringing some big time recruits with him.Just saw Lindsey is going to be making $750/yr on a 3 yr deal. That’s absolutely insane. Dude parlayed one of the worst performing DLs in the SEC into an 80% raise.
From what I read about him I feel really good about the T-Rob hire.

True dat!! He prefers Tra...or Trae...Tray??Nooo, we can't call him T-Rob. Too many bad associations.
