At the risk of being called a sheep, I and many other Bulldog fans extend to you a hearty welcome! I know there are some that will criticize and ***** about your height, Newton not coming, you being the fourth QB we offered, etc. Please ignore that, they do not represent the majority of our fan base. I will admit, I wanted Newton as much as the next guy, but it didn't happen. Time to move on....
There are many reasons why we SHOULD be excited about your coming to MSU:
1. Your numbers speak for themselves and you did it playing BOTH ways. PERIOD.
2. You have possibly the greatest QB in NFL history in your blood and on speed dial. PRICELESS.
3. You WANT to come to MSU. That puts you ahead of Brunetti, etc. in my book, as do your stats. THANK YOU.
4. There are plenty of 6' ft. and below QBs in college football that have had great success and play in BCS bowls and win NC. Damn, we just want to GO to a bowl
game. Anything more is gravy! ACHIEVEABLE.
5. You are a hard-nosed, hard-working player. MOTIVATED.
6. I have not read a single negative criticism about you as an athlete or person that was not on a message board and concerned your height. AMAZING/ADMIREABLE.
7. You will come in and immediately push Russell to be a better QB and we NEED that. Hell, who is to say you can't beat him outright. HEALTHY COMPETITION.
8. You have a cannon for an arm and well above average accuracy. Both of those are better than either QB we had throwing the ball this year. DEEP BALLS.
9. You are about to be coached by some very capable, young, energetic, and dynamic coaches. Nothing but upside there. BE A SPONGE.
10. Probably my favorite reason.... you are a GAMER.... bottom line. You don't make excuses and are aware of your weaknesses. No primadonna in you at all.
BALLS TO THE WALL.
I know some will read this and immediately post height comments or midget references and for you I say 17 off! Name other negatives beside a possible height concern. And btw, comparisons to Lee are pointless. Favre is no Lee. In light of past scholarships we have given, I have ZERO reservations about Farve getting one. If he works out, BRILLIANT! If he is a back-up for 4-5 yrs., what has he hurt? I'll take a Mr. Football and Gatorade Player of the Year as a backup QB all day long, especially with record breaking number like he comes to campus with. All I'm saying is give Favre a chance. There is plenty of time for criticism if things don't work out with him at MSU. He outplayed the QB going to ND tonight. Maybe, just maybe we are getting a diamond in the rough that we often wonder how other schools got or why we didn't offer them. Hell, the sun signs on every dogs *** at some point. Maybe this could turn into a sunny day. If not, we all know about cloudy days and have dealt with them before.
I also saw a previous post hating on LT. That stuff is great! I was at a baseball game in the spring when it had been announced LT would not be back. We walked down to stand against the wall in the top of the ninth as we were comfortably ahead. Low and behold who walks up but LT and one of his cronies and stand beside me. I thought about it and almost didn't say anything, then thought what the hell. I turned and said Hello Mr. Templeton, how are you? When he turned and saw I was below 35 yrs of age and most likely wasn't a HUGE donor he gruffed out a hello and turned away. Not to be deterred, I tapped him on his shoulder and he turned back to me. I promptly asked if the search for our NEW AD had started yet. His friend almost broke his neck to give me a go 17 yourself stare and he and LT both walked away without uttering a word. That was a great moment for me and many frustrated Bulldog fans, especially those not yet on Social Security. LT, I blame you as much as anybody or anything else on the decade of football we just lost at MSU. Go 17 yourself. The next decade already looks much, much better.
Sorry for any spelling or grammar errors. It's late and I don't feel like looking any of it up. That is all.
