Obviously Ron could have set him straight on this misguided thinking.</p>

They learned the hard way, though. They already hired a chosen successor and failed and then a coach who had some experience at VMI who I don't think had all that much success there, and I think he was an upgrade over the chosen successor.

Apparently you can hire an assistant coach from Clemson and have success as well- see Tim Corbin and Kevin O'Sullivan at Florida.
