I gotta say I am massively underwhelmed. Altho the thought that we are going cheap this year in hopes to ball out next year sounds pretty plausible to me. Regardless of the reason cheap is the best adjective for this year's haul SO FAR. Maybe these juco DL are gonna come in and dominate the SEC linemen....lol...nah. I can't even keep a straight face.

I wish ya'll would quit spreading fake news about us not paying. We're willing to pay the going rate and some extra for the players we can legitimately get. Are we in on the 5 stars from other states? No. But the typical guys we can get, we are willing to pay. We just can't land them because of a number of factors.
And I'm saying this as a guy who does not think we should be paying as much (because of the return, with no plan in place). So that shows how out of touch so many of our fans are when they think that our money folks aren't trying to throw money around.

We still have about 30 days in the first portal to get kids in. Then there is the second portal in spring. Let’s see how it finishes.
The people complaining about the lack of movement in the portal would suck at poker. I see the people putting all their chips in on day 1. Relax let it play out. This is a whole new world and none of us understand it
It's not a poker game. You want to sign the players you want to a contract as soon as you can. Cause if you don't, someone else might before you get around to "showing your hand."

Isn't the end of the open portal only relevant to players entering the portal? Once they are in the portal they can go to wherever whenever correct? If so the portal closing on the 28th has nothing to do with who we have gotten yet as we can still get players who are in the portal after the 28th. It would just make it hard for any of those players we get after that date to enroll in classes for the spring, but it doesn't mean we can get them for the fall.

I really hope some of you guys aren't as miserable as you come across on these message boards. It seems like some MSU fans almost hope that we don't do well so they can come on here and complain about how bad things are going.
We should AT LEAST let things play out before we jump to conclusions. Are we going to dominate the transfer portal? Nope, we just went 2-10 and we are in the SEC with less tradition and fewer resources than many of our conference competitors. But can we snag some solid to good players and hope to progressively build the program back that has gone through unprecedented circumstances over the past couple of years? That's what we should all be hoping for in my opinion. Hail State!
If they can't get enrolled obviously they can't practice in the spring. But hey, I guess like all the other guys are saying who cares ? We can sign a bunch of guys from directional schools and go 2 and 10 again. I mean that's the best we can do right ? Nobody understands the complicated portal and stars don't matter. A team of 2 stars is fine.

The crazy thing is we wouldn't get most of those players if we were 9-3 either. You cheer for the wrong Bulldogs if you think different.
I think you're mostly correct, but with 6,000 players in the portal, there are plenty that are overestimating their market power/value right now. There are probably a good number of potential transfers we want that could improve our roster (although that may say more about the state of our roster than their talent) that think a big check is coming when it isn't.
