Welp, QB room is working itself out already

Braden Davis has entered the portal. Obviously must have gotten a not-so-great evaluation from the coaches. I was pretty high on him coming out of high school. Best of luck.

His announcement didn’t have the typical boilerplate about how he’s loved his time here and thanking his coaches etc.

Not surprising. I thought Bailey might jump. But thinking about it more, the job will be wide open next year. So why use your free transfer right now? He hasn’t played yet, so it’s not like he’s going to garner any attention. I think he’s going to hang out for a year then battle Sellers. If he gets good news coming out of spring he stays. If not he leaves. A bunch of talented options to choose from! Certainly a good problem to have.

Very possible. He already looks like a polished runner. He's not going to be effective if he's not a good passer as well though. I'm hoping we see both this year as much as possible.

He must have been told he was buried pretty deep on the depth chart to not even stay past his true freshman year. At best, he would have been #4 on the depth chart but probably lower. I would have looked for someone like Gauthier to hit the portal first, but probably smart for Davis to go now. He's still got 4 years left, so he has time to basically start from square 1 at another program.
