and having to settle for a FG on the first (second?) drive set the tone for the game. and I agee. we need to score a TD there (I'd say 7 but we probably would have gone for 2 and get stuffed)
the game was 17-9 half way thru the 4th qtr despite some of the dumb stuff we had already done (going for 2 etc) then we go for it on 4th-8? with like 4:25 to go? I mean who is responsible for those descions? MY? SMH if he is.

Insiders claim CJF doesn't make any calls during the game; he gives general guidance and the play-calling is left to the coordinators. I would hope he might have some say over the kinds of plays being called at critical times (such as 2 point conversions) and I absolutely believe he is responsible for 'going/not going' for it on 4th downs and 2 point conversions. Ultimately, the buck stops with him.

Does anyone think a new OC will accomplish anything as long as Franklin is HC? Moorhead was only successful because of the sheer amount of talent he had on hand. His play-calling sucked. Barkley was feast or famine and had to make lemonade out of lemons most of the time.

if he isnt making the 2 pt play calls or the 4th down calls, then hes not the HC. Those are clearly the HC's descions. Thats why he gets the big bucks.

More disturbing is a pattern of 4th down tries when you have a very good defense.

No pressure on the other team every Saturday:

- passing attack
- late in games swinging momentum
- punt return game

The other team gets a break.

Give Manny credit for at least making things happen or at least trying to dictate. Going for it on 4th down at your own 30 with 4 and some change to go is not dictating the action -- its sepuku.
