What a play!

If I recall, the last tie was before the whole home field advantage thing. A tie situation this year would be great, because I really don't think this set up makes sense. Anything to mess it up and get them to change the home field format works for me.

I really don't know if it was a bad call... from one angle it looked like he got him on his foot before he touched home.... I don't know though.

this one has been damn entertaining. You can tell that the players on both sides are playing to win. It's turned into a pretty heated battle and not just an exhibition game.

Most people watching don't have a clue who a lot of these guys that are still in the game are. Also, I'm sure Francogna is loving having the fate of homefield advantage in a World Series his Sox might make in the hands of a Royals pitcher.

The other good point they brought up is that his last pitcher after Sherrill is Kazmir of the Rays. He's 0.5 games back of the Rays right now and Kazmir started two days ago. If it comes to it, I'm sure he's going to be uncomfortable with the decision of possibly having to put him on the mound on such short rest when he's the ace of a team he's chasing currently.

I don't particularly care for the home field thing either, but at the same time, I can't come up with anything better either.

I will say that as a Cardinals fan, it has made me root for the NL whereas in the past I really didn't care at all.

I take that back. Most people watching now are baseball fans. No casual fan who knows A-Rod, Jeter, Manny, etc is still watching at this hour. If you have this game on, you either follow MLB or are wasted and there are no Family Guy's or South Parks on.

With interleague play, I'd say that it would make more sense to keep an overall combined interleague record and give home field that way. This year, it would be the AL in a landslide by that measure, but it would be a decent way to let the leagues earn the right to be the home team for the World Series.

Or, simply go back to alternating it every other year from league to league.

I would let it go if it was anyone else..but how could you miss that Boston is .5 games AHEAD of Tamba bay, not the other way around.
They only talked about it all night long, especially in extra innings when Kazmir was mentioned each time.

Tito was very uncomfortable about the situation and touched on it on Sportscenter after the game, Kaz had jsut thrown 104 pitches on sunday, and had been on the dl for a part of the early season.

Yea, I'm an NL fan, so I don't keep up with the AL all that much, and I swear I had heard them say early in the game that Tampa had a 0.5 game lead. However, I did hear later that it was Boston with the 0.5 game lead after I had posted my original comment.

Shows how much I've been following that division race.

how you make the All-Star game "mean something". My suggestion is to pay the winners and the losers have to pay their expenses. Could you see Albert Pujols staying at the Days Inn "just in case"?</p>
