a couple of years ago that allowed him to play his senior season, then go immediately to play in The League (Knicks, I think)? Did he have to do anything special with regard to draft status or did he just quit school and sign a contract?

The J$ deal just had me thinking.

I think he was drafted in the second round without an agent which allowed him to go back to school but the Knicks kept his rights for X years.

Morris entered the draft, but did not hire an agent. Knicks drafted him in the second round. He chose to come back to school. He sat out a few games. When the season ended, the Knicks still had the rights to him so he was able to sign with them, ending his college eligibility.

He didn't hire an agent and he was not drafted. This enabled him to return to college and he could not enter the NBA draft again either. At any time during the UK season that year he could have signed in the NBA as a free agent.</p>

he was not drafted. he also didnt hire an agent.

this allowed him to be a FA. the Knicks never held any rights to him.
