This has become a recurring them in our pressers from Beamer and Loggains, but many coaches do the same. Using the Ole Miss game, specifically, both Beamer and Loggains said the scheme was fine, and it just boiled down to poor execution.
It just kind of seems to be a non-explanation. I might be mistaken, but teaching your players to properly execute the scheme is a fairly major part of coaching. You might say the biggest part.
It really slays me when I hear them say "we just have to execute better" and I think every time "Well, duh, yeah. That much is obvious." My question as a reporter would be "You've said numerous time this season that the inability to execute is the primary issue. What can you do get better execution?"
