What has made Croom change his tune?

On the post-game show Saturday night, Croom said that Carroll and Lee did some good things and some bad things, but neither one did anything to separate themselves. On David Murrays article today, Croom says that Wes is the number one QB and we'll sink or swim with him. Croom also said that he didn't even know if Relf or Lee would be the number 2 QB. WTF? By the way, Chaney is out for the year and will be elegible for a medical redshirt. The hits keep on coming.

He read the fans comments for one.
1) Carroll was the man who got us through last season and engineered the winning drives in games. Why back away from him this year after he made Croom a hero.
2) Chaney also can just redshirt. He has both medical and the one that the NCAA gives players.
3) Croom expects more from Lee so now he is announcing to the media there is a battle going on for 2nd place. He is going to push these players all year now that we obviously are not as comfortable and confident all around as we thought.

he talks out of both sides of his mouth. He was on damage control Saturday night and you probably can believe a damn word he said from the time he sat down till the time he walked away. Now it's back to talking about what's next.

The man doesn`t know what the hell he`s doing and without lady luck and Ellis Johnson he is what he is. He is a life long assisstant that we made a big mistake and took a chance on for the publicity, discipline and anticpated recruitng advantage he would give us. We got the publicity only and he`s a far worse coach than anyone anticipated. He didn`t pan out and this ain`t rocket science . edited to add : I also strongly question his priorities especially when it comes to coordinators. I`m not sold that MSU`s success is always at the top of his agenda.

I think that Croom realizes that Byrne is not going to put up with half of the crap that LT did. He doesn't have six games to mess around with his 2 QB experiment and a blank check to work with anymore.

All of a sudden winning matters, and you better believe that everyone in the Bryan building took note after the untouchable Polk and Raffo got Byrned.

Trust me, I know.

You are exactly right about Croom...he is not and never will be a successful head coach, regardless of the material he recruits. If he got a couple of good Coordinators and just spent his time on recuiting , public speaking and administration, he would be okay. Unfortunately, I dont believe that is going to happen.

We had to read that book once, and it is far less about accepting and rolling with change than it is about justifying the right of management to screw with you because they feel like it.
