What if you don't have starting pitchers?

You do what Mark Kingston and Matt Williams have done. We don't have anybody who can consistently go 5-6 innings as you would like with a starter. So they're throwing whoever matches up with the opponent and pitch 1-2 innings unless someone has a hot hand and then go as far as you can with him. As we saw yesterday, it can hurt you if you pick the the wrong guy for the situation. May speak to the need for better pitching recruits or an innovative plan built on necessity. Or it could be both. Thoughts? Could that ever work - no designated starters?

My question is why? Why does the University of South Carolina Gamecock Baseball Team not have starting pitchers when others do? How is it we didnt get guys that can do the job or if we did get those guys, what happened to them after they got here? Those questions need to be answered first and I dont know the answers. That said, this is not unlike some of the issues on offense. It took this staff all year to kinda figure out a lineup and I'm not sure if they are or will ever be happy with the ones they come up with. Why is that? Why is it we have never really been able to settle on a lineup? Idk. Strange year this has been.

A couple of good starting pitchers, a long and short reliever and a solid defense behind them will win a lot of games without a ton of offense.
Kingston has failed to build these core elements over the past 7 years.

To lose 1-0, we certainly need to send Kingston and Lee packing.

Kingston’s had 5 or more years to get his players including pitchers in but has failed - this entire debacle falls on him

The writing is on the wall for Tanner to read if he will. You cant be here this long and have your best year be your first.

Josh Elander from Tennessee would be interesting hire. Like the resume.
I just hope we dont get to a point where we are settling. Take our time and look at not only who a coach coached under (the pedigree), but who they played under as well. And that's in addition to hearing his expectations. I dont want to see any surprises as to what the next guy's philosophy is or will be.
