What is the source(es) of NIL funding for a school?

The school doesn't have NIL funds. The university can't be involved in the $$. That's why CR and GT were created. They get their $$ from folks like you and me. They're doing the same thing RT is...fundraising.
There's really 2 sides of NIL. One is actual NIL stuff like Park Avenue. PA helps athletes get endorsement deals base on the NIL. CR funds Park Avenue bc PA cannot take a commission on the deals they make for the athletes.
Then you have the collectives (CR & GT). This is the old school bag man that is now legal. They rely on donors to fund bags to throw at various players. They do endorsement stuff too, but when you hear about X players getting $100K to go to a school it's though a collective.

He's not saying it well, but in previous posts he's made the point (his opinion) that we are using NIL, but using it for high-profile grabs, and not spreading it around for a better overall team impact.
He obviously hates Beamer. The Coastal Carolina coach was my first choice. I was not happy with the hire. But, so far, Beamer is working out as he has exceeded expectations in his first 2 seasons. As you've said before, and I agree with you, let's see how this season goes. In the meantime, I have concluded that responding to Watson is a waste of my time. As much as I love USC, I get a bigger thrill helping out St Judes, the Carolina Shriners Childrens Hospital, Matthew25: Ministries, ASPCA, , Salvation Army, etc. If I was a billionaire, I could help out USC. The bottom line is that there are way more important causes than USC and, there's only so much that I can afford to give.
I agree with you 100%. The idea that the schools are that profiting off of these players don't have to share the profits so it falls on the consumer is disgusting to me.
The schools get millions from ESPN and about to get a lot more. They have the money to share.
He is firmly anti Beamer, and will argue that point till the end of time. I equate it to another side of the coin that is Mrs Satterfield. No fact can be twisted fast enough to fit the decided upon opinion.
As a whole, there isn't much left on that board. I treat it like an outhouse. I stop by to drop of something smelly to spin up the aforementioned Mrs Satterfield, then wipe and leave.
I pity the few who still try to have a reasonable discussion there. But it does happen occassionally.
Can’t be involved yet. We will see what the courts have to say about that shortly. I don’t look for that decision to favor the NiL haters.
I actually challenged myself over there. I made a concerted effort to get him to post a reasonable back and forth.
It litwrally lasted about 4 or 5 posts. I gave up. You'd be surprised to know, in that short of time, he managed to move the goalposts, insult, accuse people of things they never said and pretend to be the victim at the same time.
I became convinced it's all intentional. So I'll follow you're lead. (But I thought you'd appreciate the humor of it)
Thanks for the info, Lurker. It became obvious to me a couple of weeks ago that he goes out of his way to be confrontational. Maybe, just maybe, he is what others there say, a Clemson troll. I don't know. He is proving himself to be a nutcase for sure though. There are many good people and sane people to have friendly conversations, whether in agreement or sincere disagreement with to discuss. He is not in that group. I am convinced of that. Oh how I hope that somehow Beamer turns it around starting tomorrow. It would be hilarious to see how he'd handle that.

LOL. Good one. That's what aging (and the most difficult stock market for me to navigate in the past 15 years) does to you. Sometimes I wish I was young again. But I don't miss the rat race because too often, the rats are winning.

The money is supposed to be in exchange for something pertaining to name, image, or likeness. Fans look at this as some sort of slush fund. A player isn't supposed to get it merely for breathing.
The schools get whatever the athletic departments are able to spare. The athletic programs gobble up most of it, and sometimes all of it.
Well, as I said, he has exceeded expectations in each of his first 2 seasons. As far as this season is concerned, I had us 2-3 in our first 5 games. I had us losing to UNC (I warned about UNC on here before the game, whereas I think most here expected to win. I said back then that UNC has talent. Mack Brown has recruited well for them. He always recruits well. ) I had us also losing to UGA and UT. In the first 5 games, I feel we played well against UGA, Furman and Miss. State. We did not play well against UNC and UT.
I have always said that you will know what you have in a Head Coach after 3 seasons. Do I have criticism of Beamer at this point? Yes. I'm not pleased with some of his hires (some who are still on staff). Someone said that we always buy on the cheap. Well, maybe. But, there's no excuse for that. We get SEC money and should act like we do. I'm inclined to wait until the season is over before I name names. But if I see some of the same things I saw against UNC and UT, I may not wait.
