given our play in the first four games and Northwestern's play so far, what do you see for this game? looks like we are favored by 27 in road game. NW may be the most pure passing team we have played so far. Been facing pound the rock teams. We do have elite players in the back, so should be able to stop pure passer.

NW’s QB had a good game vs Minny:

33-49 396 yds 4 TDs

NW rushing: 29 carries - 92 yds

I think it might be close for a while but PSU’s depth and athleticism on O & D should break it open as the game goes along.

Weather forecast for Sat: sunny and 77*
They took advantage of disorganized secondary in the fourth quarter. I don't see them being able to do that against your defense. From what I've seen, if you don't come out flat, this will be another dominant Penn State victory. I just don't see any of us on the West being a challenge for the East's big three.

Haven’t we beat the spread in every game so far? I can’t see Northwestern keeping this one close. PSU will score 50 points.

We cover the spread by halftime. At least three explosive plays. Running game has at least one 100 yard rusher. Last year we had 5 turnovers and beat them by 10. We get the turnovers overs this year. Second team plays all of fourth quarter. 48-3 final and it could be much worse but we call off the dogs.

I hope we win and it's certainly not in the bag. What I would like to see is PSU extending that gaudy turnover differential.

I fully expect to overpower NW. Although, personally I would not object to an "early tussle." Not to count our chickens before they are hatched but,,, It's looking like this team is 6-0 before traveling to Columbus. We haven't faced even a hint of adversity, yet. It will be very interesting to see how this team responds when all the chips are down. (examples- 1978 trailing SMU 21-12 in 3rd qtr,; 1982 trailing Nebraska with 1:18 left; 1986 trailing Cincy late in the 4th qtr.; 1994 trailing and tied with Michigan late; 2016 trailing 28-7 to Wisconsin)

After seeing the way our defense swarms to the ball and the QB, I don't see how NW is in it much past the first drive (because that first drive gives us a little trouble). Offensively, both 10 & 13 get a pair of TD's and one of them busts a 50+ yarder finally (how does Pribula have the longest run so far?). I've been surprisingly decent about score predictions this season (see below) and I've got this one as 44-9, another cover.

(Past predictions/results -- WVU 38-10 (38-15), UD 52-6 (63-7), Ill 38-13 (30-13), Iowa 27-10 (31-0))

Franklin’s teams have rarely gone on the road in the B1G and curb stomped anyone, including teams they’re supposed to curb stomp. I like the Lions to win this one by a relatively comfortable margin, but not look pretty doing so (much like vs Illinois).

Noon game. On the road. Meh. I hate these games. However, if NW if is a pass first team, I think that plays right into PSU’s strengths. Expect a lot of QB pressure from the DEs. Sacks and INTs should follow. That spread is huge though.
Anyone know what the OL is like for them?
I see they gave up a lot of rushing yards to Minny. Might see those explosive plays for Singleton and Allen this week.
Edit: I saw a Northwestern insider made his prediction and noted that they (NW) have a subpar Oline. Yikes.

3 game pass stats besides the Minnesota come-from-behind game. Pure passer isn't quite what I would say, but JF is a polite guy.

I feel like that has been the theme since joining the B1G, not just with Franklin. Especially in the noon road games that are usually overcast and not real energetic from any aspect.

My concern.... How will the team handle a noon eastern start with beautiful weather after playing a night game in nuisance rain conditions?? This worries me. 🤔

Nah, PSU 49 - NW10. Lots of playing time for 2's and 3's.

Recipe for comfortable but ugly win.

I think we win but my be a struggle. However, I would like to see our offense firing on all cylinders with a solid rushing attack along with a solid passing attack. No TFL on running plays. No dropped passes. All passes on target. No QB sacks or Hurries. I am talking on offense.

Defense I am okay with currently.

I'm tremendously scared with much trepidation. It's an Evanston house of horrors -- tough place to play, lucky to come out of there in one piece. Their lads are pure intimidation and we are lucky to be playing, I respect the tradition that is NW football, 'hopefully we can keep it close and steal one'

Since the beginning of 2022, in the 14 of 16 games PSU has won, the average margin of victory is 28 points.

So, you could very well be correct.

Does anyone believe we won’t hit our longest-streak-30-point-benchmark? Not me. 35-10, 42-13, 45-17, that ballpark.

Absolutely. This game should be a beatdown of epic proportion. A great opportunity to get Beau some live reps.

I’m still feeling satisfied from last Saturday’s A$$. BEATING. o_O , but I would love to have another one. Can’t get enough.

You feel a lot better after a win than after a loss. That simple. A$$ BEATING means you start feeling better earlier than otherwise, without the accompanying stress. What’s not to love?

I suspect that we will see an opening up of the passing game- not a huge one, but a noticeable increase of longer, tougher passes. It's time to get ready for prime time,

OSU 10 Indiana 3 at half, OSU 14 Youngstown State 7 end of 1st Quarter. OSU 7 Western Kentucky 3 after 1 quarter. Michigan 14 Bowling Green 7 at half, Michigan 14 Rutgers 7 at half........PSU fans apparently don't look at other teams....
Other teams have coaches and skilled athletes and even if the talent is inferior to PSU.....it takes time to exploit weaknesses. We can't forget games are 4 quarters. It's like judging a MLB player on 75 at bats.

Fiddle faddle- we are entitled to overwhelming victory from the opening whistle until the final second. We deserve to score on every play and to limit the opposition to three and outs for the entire game. We demand this, and nothing less will do.
