What so you consider to be the standard of this baseball program?

I would think any program with 2 national titles, multiple more title game/series appearances and CWS appearances since 2002(not to mention the appearances in the 70s and 80s), would be considered "elite". That is the standard the baseball program operates from, not the same mediocrity some of our other programs are mired in. Kingston already has had a losing season here(first since 1996) and I seriously doubt this is something the fan bases of LSU, Oregon St., Texas, Miami, USC, even Vanderbilt who has multiple titles since 2014 would put up with. Yes Kingston will probably get more time, but it needs to be made clear that super regionals are not going to cut it, this fan base expects trips to Omaha and to be competing for titles.

Kingston never finished above 2nd in the AAC. What did you really expect? He has over achieved. This is more than I would expect with him. I guess m. Lee helped him this year

I don’t know if there’s a clear cut answer to your question, but I do know Kingston is nowhere near meeting the standard.
Don’t forget we still hold 2 records that might not ever be broken. 22 straight ncaa tournament wins, 12 straight CWS wins.

1. Make tourny every year
2. Host regional 4/5 years
3. Host super 2/4 years
4. Play in supers 4/6 years
5. Omaha 1/3 years
If you looked at our history I could easily see that, I'm just not sure it's attainable any more, now that might be because of coaching/recruiting or just the ebb and flow of sports, I just think its hard to stay on top year after year anymore. Baseball is taken more serious now days, I'm not sure why that is, a lot of really nice stadiums out there, lots of really good mid-major programs and the SEC has never been better makes it a lot tougher to get to Omaha in my opinion. I don't know if there is enough talent to go around, especially with mlb plucking the elites, we better hit the portal hard, because I'm hearing the recruiting class is not great. I found it interesting the broadcast talking about the Indiana State coach recruiting the caribbean islands hard and you can certainly tell it, not a bad strategy.

Is Ray so far removed from these goals for baseball that it does not resonate with him anymore?
These are the goals he would have for himself in the day and expect to achieve them!

That's some sad, cold, hard truth right there.

It's not enough to be a good manager/analyst. You must be a builder.
It may be a thing of the past for a lot of programs in this era of the portal but from what I see of the best teams out there, it's still a priority.

I would say the only one that could be a stretch is Omaha. This is UFs first trip in 6 years. It’s hard to get there. But that one would be easier to stomach if we were competing for SEC championships and hosting regionals and supers.

Yea, see Matt Hogan at Oral Roberts for example.
Same can be said for Vandy. I suspect LSU and Arkansas as well. Corbin is reluctant to go to the portal knowing it takes a spot from a guy they made an earlier commitment to and currently in a process.

And be able to take 5 out of 6 from Fla.

Make the tournament every year. You can’t win it all if you don’t get in the tourney. If a program has sustained success and makes the tourney every year, the rest takes care of itself.
