What will we make out of the loss?

After last week’s game, Beamer said at the end of the season, we would look back on the Kentucky game as either a game that propelled us to greater things or as a wasted opportunity.

Even though we lost to LSU, I think it will be much the same. Do we look back on the LSU game at the end of a five win season as just one of countless other games in our history when we played over our heads to compete with a superior opponent only to then immediately regress to mediocrity or worse?

Or will we look back on it after a successful season and see that it showed what we were really capable of and how well we could really play?

Only time will tell.

Sellers’ injury will have a lot to do with the answer to that question. I do have a different feeling about this group though. Count me in the group that, while not happy with a loss, can see the progress and potential shown in the loss yesterday. I will say I think this group is resilient enough to stay the course and continue getting better to make a bowl game.

We have to avoid the “lose to same team twice” issue and not dwell on LSU much. Refs obviously stole that win from us for whatever reason (gambling). But the team cant dwell on it.

Having Alron and a bye helps. They will mentally be past it by Ole Miss kickoff

I think this is one of those losses that in the emotions of the moment, hurts more than getting blown out. It was painful and then watching Kentucky play toe-to-toe with Georgia a few hours later only made it more painful, thinking about what could have been. But as the weeks pass, especially if we get some big wins, this game will be viewed with some perspective and may be viewed as a "quality loss," to the extent such a thing exists, at the end of the season.

Assuming Sellers is healthy, I think we can play with anybody on our schedule. Note that "anybody" is not the same as "everybody." We could also get blown out by several teams left on our schedule. But I don't think the losses are foregone conclusions any more. I'm glad we have Akron this week and I'm glad we have a bye to get ready for Ole Miss.

As it relates to the UGA game, I see a difference. I don't think LSU played poorly. They played a pretty decent game but they were not really any better than us (aside from the final score, of course). On the other hand, UGA played like crap. Beck was missing open receivers all game long. They were just off.

This loss reminds me of how I felt in my younger days. Lingering. I still am bummed. Hasn't been like this feeling in over 20 years. I wonder why now?

The nature of the loss, I guess. If we got boat raced, there’s not much to replay in your mind. In a loss like yesterday’s, though, any one of a dozen or more plays you can “what if?” in your mind and imagine how we could have won if that one play had gone differently.

I suppose. I didn't expect to win before the game but felt we deserved to win and it just feels like it was stolen.

Big thing for me is, we have to prove it wasn’t a fluke performance as we have seen so many times in our past. We can justifiably lament the missed opportunities and missed calls, but if we don’t go out and replicate our performance throughout the rest of the season, it won’t matter.

Sure, I wasn't suggesting that Kentucky is nearly as good as UGA. But they are obviously good enough be nearly as good as UGA on a night when the Bulldogs are playing poorly. On the other hand, we throttled UK in that same building on a day when we played far from perfectly.

Notwithstanding a few bad decisions by their QB, I actually think LSU played their best game of the season yesterday. We'll see how they play moving forward, but they appear to have found a quality running back in that freshman, which was a big missing piece in their previous games.

Depends on whether you mean we, the fans or we, the players. Because this was game 3 and the players committed 13 STINKING PENALTIES! They blew their collective foot off all the way up to the knee, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory repeatedly in this game. Are they capable of learning? If so they can be winners. If not they'll waste a good defense and watch bowl season from their couches.
