24. Mississippi State Bulldogs

ESPN 300 commits: 2 | Previous ranking: 24

SEC rank: 10 of 14
Top offensive commit: QB Chris Parson (No. 190)
Top defensive commit: S Isaac Smith (No. 107)

The Bulldogs are battling through a difficult period with the unexpected death of head coach Mike Leach, but this class is one fitting of his legacy, as it has no shortage of offensive talent. Parson gives them a strong-armed passer who throws a nice deep ball and has shown strong leadership skills. WR Justin Brown is a fluid player with excellent hands and body control and could develop into a highly productive target. They have done well close to home with multiple in-state commits, including Ty Jones, a big RB with a strong lower body who can run through arm tackles. They strengthened their offense by landing several good OL prospects in high-three-star OTs Zay Alexander and Malik Ellis, a blocker who can bend and move well and flashes a lot of promise if he can add needed weight. Overall, this class lacks many headline-grabbing pickups but is solid from top to bottom.

I heard we had fallen on hard times!

What's going on?

Sage advice: Don't believe everything you hear. Time tells all and it's always true.

Watched film on many of these kids. Look good, but Leach used to tell recruits that you have to earn respect to play. I like that. Arnett says the same (the guy ahead of you is there for a reason. We will show you why and help you get to there) so that shouldn’t change. The Alexander kid (from Tupelo) is a beast. Hope a large group shows up this spring and puts the time in.
