What's the deal with fans throwing water bottles on the field at quempsum? I thought they were all in. ***

Kirby nailed it after the UGA/Texas game when the refs caved to the Texas fans throwing bottles onto the field. He said they had set a precedent and from now on when fans didn't agree with a call they would throw bottles onto the field.

I think it has happened a number of times since that UGA/Texas game.

It's not like this is a new phenomenon. UT fans littered their field with trash against Ole Miss a few years ago. Braves fans littered Turner Field in the "outfield fly" Wild Card game. Carolina students threw trash plenty of times when I was in school.

True, but it used to be a pretty rare thing to see. Now, it is happening every weekend in college football when a call goes against the home team.

SEC refs (pathetically bad on their best day) set a really bad precedent by going back on that call at Texas. I had never seen a PI call on the D reversed with no explanation. It was obvious the refs gave in to the crowd.

Yeah that was an abysmally officiating game that set a really poor precedent. I just don't know that I'd blame that single decision for the bad actions of other fanbases.

It was all over social media and ESPN in the days afterwards. I'm sure lots of fans of lots of teams saw it. Students are pretty impressionable with those sorts of things and I think most of the instances, if not all, have involved student sections.

What the refs should have done is correct the 15 yard call then enforced a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty on the Texas crowd.
I think that's the only thing that really fixes this...make the crowd's actions actually impact the game.

And add another 5 yds for delay of game on the crowd for the cleanup, basically give UGA 35 yds on the play and the ball. Refs missed a golden opportunity to shut that type of behavior down.

Clemmons boils down to 3 things with me:

81' team bought and paid for. - Not legit Champs
Last second illegal "pick play" against Bama - Not legit Champs
The entire "Ostarine Cheatahs" team - Not legit Champs.

Nothing Clemmons does is legit. It's all smoke and mirrors. They are hillbilly trash. (But they sure do cheat good)

They threw bottles after the failed onside kick. Guess they weren’t watching the same play I saw because Clemson was blocking down field before the ball ever went 10 yards. But yes, this happens too often and it needs to draw a penalty.

They even have a complicit news media. The only people that ask hard questions are from the midlands.

Even Dabo pretended not to see that when asked in the postgame.
