In the Reginald Owen version there are great movie lines"

Scrooge to Cratchit as Cratchit looks at the clock. "You keep close eyes on the closing hour" Says Scrooge. "Very well close up don't work overtime, You Might Make something of yourself"...
"Sir my wages they fall due today"
"Can't wait to spend it ay Cratchit!"

I really like The Muppet Christmas Carol. Fire away!
This has really emerged for me Over the past couple of years. The old guys in the balcony playing Marley (as Marley and Marley) is a great touch. Michael Cane as Scrooge is perfect. I would put it up there with the Alistair Sim and George C Scott versions in my top three. Mr. Magoo is another great one. Odd Couple episode is my favorite sitcom version.

The Sim's portrayal is my favorite Scrooge characterization, but the production was shoddy. In terms of overall production, my favorite is the Scott version.

Mine is the 1938 Reginald Own Christmas Carol. Then Scrooged the musical with Albert Finney. Then Alistair Sim's portrayal.

Shabbat Shalom.

PS: Scrooged Bill murray might be tied with Sim's
I like Scott and Finney as my two favorites, but another one, I did not like at first but have grown to like is "American Scrooge" with Henry Winkler.

I'm gonna look for this. A Christmas Carol is a personal favorite for me, as it manages to convey a wonderful message without too much (overbearing) sermonizing. Dickens was a genius.

I liked Scrooge, a musical, 1970, with Albert Finney. The movie was nominated in four academy award categories. Finney won a Golden Globes for Best Actor in his role.

I had the title wrong. Should be "An American Christmas Carol". I apologize.

My favorite was the Mr. Magoo version because it brings back childhood memories.
Mine too. Unfortunately you don't see it broadcast very much since the Magoo character is not PC. Some channel/network screwed up last year and showed it, was the first time I'd seen it in decades.

I think the theatrical sets and dark photography are parts of the charm of the 1951 version. I accidentally posted a picture of the colorized version, but I never liked that- give me the old black and white one.

I can’t believe no one, and I mean no one, has the Rich Little Christmas Carol from HBO 1978 on the list!

My favorite author, who appears to not be on the curriculum in this PC world. What a shame.
Will always remember reading David Copperfield on the train. What a joy.
