When will Sellers get to play to gain experience for next year?

He has four games that he can play in and still be redshirted. It will be a shame not to get him and others game experience.

I think he'll definitely play against Jax St. Our margin of error is so small right now. The last thing you want to do is put him in, he makes a terrible mistake that changes the complexion of the game. I would think if we're in control of the UF game he might get some reps. Hopefully we're up on Vandy well enough to give him reps. I don't see the other games as a good opportunity to do that.

Agree.

I saw someone mention the other day that he could be available/saved (if it counts against #of games played-in) for a (possible?) bowl game, should Rattler opt out of it. I don’t know if Spencer would do that, but….

I don't th8nk bowls count against the redshirt games anymore, right?

I heard they changed that to help combat all the opt outs for bowl games.

As for the original question? I see vandy and the other patsy as the two good chances.

Apparently that was just a waiver the NCAA issued for 2022. I'm sure they'll do the same for this year, or just change the rule all together, but you never know with the NCAA.

I was unaware of that. It did make a lot of sense, which means they probably won't do it.

It's also something they should declare before the season, so coaches don't hold that 4th game for the bowl.

It makes sense to me, but I'm not the coach, to have a special situational package for Sellers to be used, whether planned or just when the time is right to do so to surprise the other team with a different look. Keeping the redshirt factor in mind of course.

I believe this is the key factor. His best bets are to get in against Jax and Vandy. If we win any of the other remaining games, none of them will be blowout wins. Same goes for losses. I don't necessarily see us getting blown out in any of our remaining games, though I'm certainly not saying it can't/won't happen. We just have to keep Spencer in while the games are close-ish either way.

He played against Furman. I'm not sure which other game you would have put him in, but I can't think of a moment where it would have made sense.

I'm sure he'll play against Jacksonville State, but other than that it's doubtful we have any blowout games where we'd be able to get him in.

So what exactly is he learning from a few snaps of mop up duty against Furman? He’s supposed to be the future of this program so he needs meaningful snaps now.
I’m tired of Beamer saying, we need to get these other guys the ball and yet they sit holding their helmets on the bench. Everyone can see DK sucks at running back but they keep playing him while the 4 star freshman sits on the sidelines. Heck, it took them five games to finally start playing Anderson when everyone could see he was better than what was out there.
Bottom line is these guys need to play in meaningful games and keep their redshirt if possible. Who knows with a little $$ thrown their way they could be gone next year.
