White Out Game: I do not see how it could be the opening game against WVU. Here's why:

A main part of a White Out is the choreographed student section actions prior to/during the Blue Band entrance and kickoff. For one quarter of the student section - the freshmen - it will be their first game in Beaver Stadium. Do you think they can act like students are supposed to act at a White Out with no prior practice participating in the student section? I doubt it. Much better to wait until the Iowa game when they will have had two prior games to get acclimated, IMHO.

Does it really matter. Most people wear white for psu anyway especially in the summer and away games

I believe classes begin August 21st. Hopefully the freshmen will use those two weeks wisely to decipher the white out. But all they really need to do is wear white. It's not difficult.

What "practice" is necessary to be a fan?!?!?

This isn't difficult. Show up, make noise, cheer for the team that is wearing blue tops and white helmets.

Half the students are going to have had a few drinks -- and they'll still be able to figure it out.
