I'd put my money on Iowa right now, but could go different ways. It will be interesting once we get more details on how the networks divvy up the selections since NBC will have a Big Ten game every evening throughout the year so I do think it increases the likelihood of a night game and Whiteout in November,

It will be Iowa. Michigan will be a stripe out later in the schedule.
I say it's gonna be Michigan no matter what. Hopefully for a 3:30 or 4:00 game, but most of our big games are going to be at noon as long as FOX is involved.

I’ve already seen it announced but don’t ask me where. It’s Iowa in September. Michigan is the stripe out game. It’s already been decided. Michigan is November 11 - too late for a night game. Homecoming will be Indiana.

I find it had to believe that it has been announced but what do I know? All I can say is that our November games this year started at 3:30 and 4:00, and both ended in the dark. With the new TV deal, it's time to rethink the Whiteout night game thing. Using it for Iowa next season is just as pathetic as using it for Minny this year. Might as well waste it on Rutgers. Just my opinion.

Iowa just got a legitimate transfer QB, Cade McNamara transferred from Michigan.

Does the big ten still ban night games in November? White out really has to be evening start
Technically they aren’t “banned” just that both teams have to agree on it which generally doesn’t happen. But that’s irrelevant to this discussion as it is the past rules. In 2023, there’s a new TV deals with new rules and part of it is that NBC has a prime time all season long. So some Big Ten games will definitely be at night in Nov

West Virginia - White Out to start the season on what should be a warm summer evening.

Why can’t we have 2? Is that a rule? I understand the arguments for and against, but seriously, if November rolls around and the two teams are challenging for a championship, why can’t there be a “we are having a whiteout vs Michigan,” dress accordingly, if it’s a start other than noon?

I haven’t looked at the schedule yet, but are there other options for Fox at noon? Since they may be picking first, the question may be moot.

Obviously it looks better after sunset. My personal preference would be WVa and Michigan. Sure it looks great, but as long as we are 110k and noisy, who cares if it’s noon or 7?

Stripe out. The dumbest gimmick in college football.

Did they make that rule before electricity?

There's no real reason PSU shouldn't be able to host a night game in November.
It’s a temperature rule and far as I know it’s been a rule since before PS was in the conference.

thousands of cars driving home after the game on icy roads, what could go wrong.

It's November, not February. And there are always plenty of night time athletic events (and other large gatherings) held during the winter.

Living in PA all my life the most dangerous snowy pile ups happen during mid November to early December snow squalls usually at the 3 P.M. hour. Usually 80 or 81.
Average snowfall in State College in November is 2.6" ... and it snows in the daytime, as well as the night. Plus, things are getting warmer/seasons shifting. Back in the day, growing up in PA, I remember organized football in the snow. Now, farther north where there's more snow than in PA, we're more likely to play in a 50+ degree monsoon than a snow storm.

PSUFBFAN's (un)official white out rules:

One per year
Night game
Sept/Oct

Stick with these rules and it will always maintain its unique position in all of College football.

tOSU plays at ND the same day PSU hosts Iowa. If NBC is only doing B1G night games, potential doubleheader to hype in early season. Would think game wouldn’t be difficult to select (i.e. top of list like tOSU-UM, etc).

If NBC contract allows for a minimum number of time shifts, I’d go with tOSU-ND at night.

The Big Ten has only gradually allowed night games in general in the time since PSU has been in the conference- when we first joined, I think only about half the stadiums even had lights.

Regardless, the rules are changing since there will be a night game on network TV every week starting next year including November. And it’s not like NBC is paying lots of money to show Rutgers/Indiana so we’ll likely be there some weeks.

(Though in 2024 and beyond, they may tend to favor putting USC or UCLA in those night slots later in the season due to weather and time zones)
