Barry's dad was captured by Nazis and thrown into a shed similar to the one on the book's cover. When morning broke he saw where some GI had carved "Go to Hell Ole Miss" on one of the walls. Pretty wild to think an OM hating soldier behind enemy lines taking time to do that. Musta been a STATE soldier.
