Who do you want as new OC?

Loggains to App. St - apparently.

Assume it's true. And assume there would be plenty of interested OC's who would want the job because of Sellers..... Sellers has a way of making people look good.

Who do you want and who is realistic?

Dang. So, I'm not a Loggains guy, but the consistency from last year was helpful. At times he was good. At other times, not so good. He did seem to be able to make some adjustments, and find a way to move the ball.

It's also true that we won some games because of Sellers and the other players in spite of the coaches.

We could use a home run hire, of course, but we really don't need to go backwards.

What is Darin Hinshaw doing?

Other than Hinshaw no one realistic comes to mind. Beamer and the new AD are going to have to do some digging.

Korn at Liberty would be Uber risky, but that type of offense would be good for Sellers.

this needs to be a no-brainer hire. We missed a chance last time to make a serious upgrade. This time we’re a top 15 program with a QB who will be in the Heisman conversation.

A rising name is Casey Woods. SMU OC and son of former Gamecock head coach, Sparky Woods. I wanted him last cycle.

It would be nice if we had some consistency at that position, but we do have a chance to make a serious move here. Whoever we hire, I'd like the reaction from the national media to be "that makes sense" and no "who?".

Break out the wedding photos again. :ROFLMAO:
Unlike the previous 2 hires, we are hiring from a position of strength. Not sure when the last time was we were able to hire an OC in our current situation.

Our offense isn't top flight, but it's not a mess either. We have a Heisman who will get some Heisman discussion next year. A potential home run receiver in Harbor. Just brought in another big-time receiver with Cyrus.

Will this hurt us during portal season? Esp with Key in the portal right now. Woods' son is interesting, but I don't have particularly fond memories of his dad... and hiring an ACC coordinator? The natives WILL be restless!

Satterfield is available, conveniently.

Loggains got us up to 48th last time I looked. Surprised he's being poached, but not going to complain at all.

He seemed to struggle at times is the nice way to say it.

Found an article that was less than flattering.

Loggains, who has served as South Carolina's offensive coordinator since 2023, will leave the Gamecocks after a brief tenure. While his time in Columbia was marked by steady progress on the offensive side of the ball, it was clear that both Loggains and the South Carolina program were ready for a change. His efforts to develop quarterback Spencer Rattler and stabilize the Gamecocks' offense were notable, but the offense struggled with inconsistency during his time in charge.

Hardly a ringing endorsement, and it was expected from both sides? Seems odd to get a HC job if that was the case.

Yeah, that's interesting. Especially the jump to HC. App St is known for hiring good offensive minded coaches, and they're known for advancing their HC to higher levels, so... no way they would hire him without really believing he was a good choice.

But still, it has an odd feel to it, doesn't it?

If we're being honest, based on the last two hires, our first reaction to the hire will be "who?". Followed by "really?" After we look him up. Then debate over what Shane is thinking, followed by someone pointing out that the guy has some connection to the NFL, or mentions that he likes "pro style offense".

But seriously, I wonder if he feels confident enough to promote from within. It almost seems like that's what is coming.

Not saying I like him or if he would even take an OC job but Dan Mullen is available.
Don't see that happening, but he's a damn good coach, and a good guy. Florida was foolish to let him go for one down year.

I hear he is in the talks for the UNC job.

I'm going to throw out a name. It would be a total flyer. He is still, as yet, unproven at OC, not enough time in the job, but he's doing the style of offense that I think would work really well with Sellers.

He's really an SEC guy, though. Played at UT, GA at Auburn, TE/RC at Missouri (where I think he recruited quite well).

The fact that offense, at 48, seems to be so good is an indication of just how awful it had been.

He's been ok as an OC. We can absolutely upgrade.

I wonder if App State realizes he won't be bringing Sellers with him.

In my opinion, this is an absolute gift for Beamer. He got a mulligan when Nebraska took Satterfield off our hands. Loggains was underwhelming as a hire. I'd say he's proven to be competent, but that's it. He's getting another mulligan here. Needs to make this one count, and I think we're in a pretty strong position at this point to get a solid hire.
