I'm trying to piece together my schedule for they year. But seeing the UT, Alabama, GT, and the Egg bowl are all the games I plan on travelling too. Who all has been to UT? this will be the first time ive ventured out of Mississippi and seen the other schools stadiums.

I'll be at Bama, GT and OM for sure. Still up in the air on going to UT. last year of college though, gotta pull out all the stops. UT is just massive. I've heard from people who have been to both that it is not nearly as loud as LSU, but still the "sea of orange" is enormous. For the most part people were nice.

From now on, I want to attend one out-of-state away game each year. I've never been to UT and must see it one day. But not this year. I'd like to go to LSU, but perhaps when we're strong enough to avoid nasal cavity rape. GT doesn't do it for me.

Bama it is. Haven't been since the early 90s.

Ive never been anywhere but state and ole miss. I don't really care to see death valley yet until like you said our presence is known around the league. I'm not ready to risk getting pummeled by bottles and hell from the LSU fans. But this year I want to see UT the most. Driving to Alabama is easy and right down the road but UT will be solid this year especially when we got the perfect opportunity to Croom fatty fulmer.

still undecided on UT.

Saw Peyton and the vols drub us back in '95 before they entirely closed in the upper deck; still sat around 95,000 at the time. Moulds put on quite a performance that day. If you get a chance, go. It was truly amazing. Parking is a nightmare, but campus is really cool with all the hills and the river close by.

The scheduled lined up in such a way that I'm going to all 12 games; my first time to be able to go to all of them.

Of all the SEC stadiums, I think Auburn might be my favorite, but they all have their own character.

Jordan-Haire is not the biggest, but its architecture is similar to Scott Field. It really traps the noise. Plus, the campus setting on a fall afternoon reminds me of something Norman Rockwell might have painted.

Bryant-Denny (Alabama) is worth the trip to watch the pregame video with the Bear Bryant audio. Ben Hill Griffin (Florida) felt like football at the beach, but that could be because our team was never in the game, plus our seats were high enough to catch what seemed like an ocean breeze. LSU's fans aren't necessarily that bad unless you're easily provoked, and by easily I mean "can be provoked at all," but thankfully I'm a very, very peaceful drunk.

UT is impressive, but the main way they get 100K in there is they've put the numbers on the seats very close together. It's certainly worth the trip, especially since Fulmer is everyone's favorite for this year's Crooming. If you're wavering on whether to go, I'd vote 'go.'

The only stadium that's left me feeling under-impressed was Williams-Brice in Columbia, South Carolina. It's on a fairgrounds which, to me, robs too much from the gameday atmosphere. If everybody tailgating is sitting over asphalt in the hot sun, there won't be much in the way of tailgating "atmosphere." Might as well be at Veterans Memorial in Jackson or the Liberty Bowl. Give me tents over grass or give me death, I suppose. Plus, even though their fans are very loyal, it just felt like an ACC crowd to me. More like outdoor basketball. They play the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey and want to be taken seriously? Please. Visit stadiums where they bow in unison to a dead man's voice and hurl warm bags of piss, then call me back.

Everyone I've talked to about travelling the SEC in the past has said South Carolina was their least favorite by far in the entire SEC because of it being so hot and awful.

My top attractions I want to see down the line are UT, UGA, and Auburn.

I've been up there probably 3 times, and i really like the campus. Once you see it though you realize how spread out our campus is, UT's is literally built on top of itsself. Yeah parking is a nightmare. get there early and find a little side street.

The thing about Williams-Brice is not that it's bad, it's just that it's not good. They averaged over 80K fans a week the year they went 0-11, but it just doesn't feel like real college football should. When the fair is in town, you can see Ferris Wheels and hear the midway sounds from your seat, and it's as if the game is just another sideshow along the way.

been to ut several times and i personally feel its ovverrated...if you go in there expecting it to be awesome youll be disappointed, sure theres 100k plus but its so spread out you wont notice it all pregame. I have buddies up there that set up their tailgate like 4 miles from the stadium and thats the way it is throughout the whole town, everyone tailgates apart from everyone else nothing like the junction. They came to state last year and admitted that our pregame atmosphere was head and sholders better than theirs. Once you get in the stadium sure its huge and loud but ive been to a couple stadiums that i personally was more impressed with (bama and georgia)

I've survived Baton Rouge twice.

The safest time to go to LSU is an afternoon LF/Raycom/JP game when your team gets their *** kicked 58-0. The atmosphere is TOTALLY different during the day vs. a night game. They aren't nearly as drunk at 11:30 as they are at 8 PM. Plus, if it's a blow out, most of their fans will head out, and you can get to safety fairly easily. I still would go with a group, it's just the smart thing to do there. I also wouldn't do anything stupid like provoke their fans, no matter how pissed off you are at the team, their fans, or the unlikely event that we actually beat them, don't provoke their fans.

It might be a little different this time around as coming off of a 8 win season, they may see us as a little more of a threat, so if you go you will probably get flipped off about 10-20 times. First time I went was 98, and I think I got flipped off at least 100 times (conservatively). I also was in the band, so I had to walk around decked out in a band uniform, which doesn't help. Last time I went was 2004 after we lost to Maine, and I got flipped off once- by a girl who I'm pretty sure didn't know **** about football.

Also, they will probably have some signs on restaurants with stuff like "Mississippi- that smell on the way to Florida". As a whole, they really go out of their way- the school that is- to make it a miserable experience.

The other stories about grannies mooning you, their fans trying to pick fights, etc. is all true. But that stuff didn't happen the second time I went, which was the day game after we lost to Maine.

Also, the police are useless there. You might as well be in the Wild West. Don't go to the bathroom there by yourself either. Our church pianist got into a fight there in the women's bathroom- true story- back in the 60's. And no, she didn't start it. She did knock an LSU fan out though- she told me it was self-defense, and I believe her. In case you were wondering, she is an Ole Miss fan.

was all that bad. I think they build their stadium that was because I think they were trying to land an NFL franchise. It's a nice stadium, it doesn't have the tradition and history as a lot of the other stadiums, though.

Their fans were pretty loud when I went in 98.

That game was pretty funny becuase they were all going nuts and everything and then Kevin Prentiss took the KO to the house- and half the stadium left. Then we get them to go three and out, get the ball back and JJ takes it about 80 yards to the house, and then half of the crowd that was left leaves. We won 38-0. They had some stock cars come in at halftime, and that was kind of cool. The fair was in town that day to.

My personal least favorite place to go would probably be UK because of the distance and the fact that their fans are fairly stupid- ask vh for a great example, and the atmosphere isn't all that great- blacktop tailgating there as well. Lexington is not a bad town, though.

I haven't been to Vandy, but I have heard that their stadium is a dump. Nashville might be able to trump that though.

Oxford, Knoxville, and Atlanta for sure. A group of us bought plane tickets for the GT game the other day, found a great price.

That plane trip back from Portland to Atlanta on the red-eye
was miserable. Then had 4 hour lay over Atlanta to jackson. (miserable)
But highway 1 going down the west coast was nice.

Going to Bama, GT, UT, LSU maybe
I will not step one foot in Ole Miss stadium.
Last time I went was 98. I knew we would win.

How dare you leave out the two greatest moments of that game. The LSU student(?) wearing a Maine t-shirt (even though he had no clue about "The Maine") and the band playing Taps after the game.

Honorable mention to VHDawg yelling at Templeton.

AA - really wish we had a pic of the dude and his Maine shirt

The Streak will continue through this season.

UT and GT are the only ones that are "must try to go" for me. I could live without going to Ruston, though I might pony up just because. Bama and LSU aGAIN? Maybe. Depends on how much VHDawg whines about me not going.

I haven't been to a game in Oxford since '98, but I'll need a really, really good reason to go.

AA - ok, two good reasons

...from Midland, Texas, through the 4 corners, and Bryce Canyonlands up to SLC, where my cousin lives. He was a huge BYU fan since he had lived there 30 years. He was shocked that we beat them so easily.

The BYU trip was probably my favorite road trip ever. Lunch at Robert Redford's Sundance resort, and we won in a great atmosphere.

My experience at South Carolina was pleasant. I enjoyed the railroad cars, found the fans hospitable, and thought that had a good game day atmosphere.

Have always had good expereinces at Alabama. Most hospitable fans were at Georgia. Vandy was just OK, but Nashvile was nice. Worst place for me - Ole Miss, where my brother has four seats in the south end zone. I made the mistake of sitting with him dressed in maroon, and was almost accosted in the rest room when a drunk fan asked, "How the hell did you get a ticket in here?"

Hope to go to Ga Tech this year if I can find a reasonable plane fare (mighty difficult right now).
