Who to root for - ND or USC?

With USC ranked ahead of PSU, I’d normally root for them to lose, but I never root for ND to win. I’m not sure if USC losing helps or hurts PSU in this case in terms if any bowl selections. I’m on the fence here. Which way do we want this to go? Does it matter?

Since I think the UM/tOSU loser making playoffs is the worst outcome for PSU - even though we’d make a NY6 game - I will root for USC to win and make that less likely. Notre Dame losing as a result is nice side effect.

Easy for me... ND. My dear departed Dad was a double domer, 2 uncles are domers, my cousin was captain of women's swim team and badly injured when their team bus crashed in early 90's... and my mom was born and raised in South Bend (my grandfather is memorialized on a statue downtown SB as a fallen fight fighter). However, I understand the contempt many here hold against ND, it doesn't bother me.

Interesting side story (for those who care). The game was always mid season, either in SoCal or at SB. However, once in the late 50s, USC piled into their train with mild weather in the forecast they did not pack any cold weather gear. By the time they arrived in SB it was bitterly cold/snow. USC asked the Irish AD to borrow some cold weather equipment (blankets, etc...) and the ND AD told them to pound sand.

So when contract can up again USC insisted that their home game in the series ALWAYS be last game of the year. That's why it is midseason at ND and end of season at USC.

Also, the current ND acceptance rate is 8% while USC is about 12-13%. Insane...

SoCal. Future league member and tired of seeing Clemson. If USC, TCU, and Georgia win out, then I think winner of B1G East completes the four for the CFP.

USC. They have provided me with much pleasure in ruining Notre Dame seasons over the years. Either outcome, some how some way Penn State will get screwed in the bowl selection process.

I have a soft spot for Notre Dame but I suspect the fact that my daughter graduated USC will make the eventual difference.

Upon hearing all the evidence I have to root for USC. Rooting for ND is almost like rooting for Pitt. It just can NEVER happen.

Go USC. I still love my former Steeler Troy Polamalu. I’m also one of the few Irish (1/2) /Catholics who despises Norte Dame.

If USC wins and gets in playoffs, there are potentially 3 B1G teams in... OSU, UM, and future member USC.

The SEC was so yesterday's news.
