Whoever our next coach is

it will probably be a shock to our players. Assuming that they are halfway competitive, of course. Polk and Raffo have turned our team into a YMCA outfit.

I think that might be why some of our players don't want Cohen (per rumor). They know that he will come in and want to win, and probably will yell at them if they screw up from time to time. By the same token, they know Raffo won't yell at them and will keep things status quo.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mississippi College, Samford, Belhaven, and Millsaps get an influx of MSU players in the very near future.

And the other thng that really pisses me off is why do we have to keep guys like Crosswhite and Bowen in the rotation when they have proven that they can't do the job? I mean TRY something different. I think Whitney should get a shot. But here again, if we had some creativity, I think we could have a successful season- and as easy as it is to make a Regional now a days, we would probably do well enough to go as a three seed, which with this team is a feat.

Also, our next coach needs to change our recruiting philosophy. We need to go after players who are better- even if it means that we will lose a couple to the draft. I look at the other SEC shools, and they all have pitchers who are at least 6'0" and have pretty good stuff. We just throw a bunch of off speed junk, and worse, don't throw it for strikes. I also notice that the other SEC schools sign a lot more players than we do. It's ridiculous, especially with our resources.

Huge fan of anyone who uses the term "outfit" in referencing a company, group or team. Nice job. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Drew Pomeranz's dad, Mike I think, pitch for Polk?

His Dad and uncle both played for Jake Gibbs in the 70's and maybe 80's. I think their names were Mike and Pat.

He is a legacy for all intensive purposes.

Good, because these guys are a bunch of clowns that have quit. Good riddance.

I agree. I think we're going to see a complete overhaul in the next 2 years. And a lot of those players who do wind up at MC, Samford, etc. will still suck.

I hope people are willing to give him some time. No matter how good of a hire we make, the next guy won't get it turned around right away.

What makes you think those schools would want them? MC, Samford, Belhaven, and Millsaps are good teams with players who want to win.

he's the best pitcher we've got right now- outside of Pigott who's been hurt.
Crosswhite, I completely agree, should be a midweek guy until he gets his stuff together.

He was going to inherit a pretty bad team anyway, but if Polk had managed to sneak into a regional as a #3 seed the sheep would have been all over the next coach for not making a super regional next year. With the way this season has gone, there won't be much room for questioning him when he cleans house.

You're arguing that a guy with a 7.20 ERA is our best pitcher. And you don't even look like an idiot for doing it.

from Bianco following OM game today (Saturday) where he said in effect that they had players hurt too this year, but making excuses wasn't going to help matters. At the end of the day winning was all that mattered. Now contrast that with RP's constant excuse factory after each game.
