Why do we continue to schedule these off campus games?

Because Fall semester is over and the students are gone.

Who’s traveling from Jackson (or even Tupelo) to Starkville for a game against Central Michigan??

Well there is definitely one consistency from our team no matter the coach. They absolutely do not know how to run a half court offense with under 20 seconds left in the half.

These neutral site games help NIL as well. A % of ticket sales or something—not sure of the exact arrangement, but there is a benefit.

Fans don’t show up. More fans show up on campus from Jackson and Tupelo than they do when on site.
I used to think they would get better attendance than Starkville in the OOC, but I’m obviously wrong about that. I really don’t understand it.

But like others have said, better for NET. Not sure on the NIL and why prices are higher. Money grubbers I guess.

Play a game in Jackson on a Tuesday, ***** about the arena. Play a game in Tupelo, ***** about the arena. Play a game in Starkville where all of the empty seats are camera side and no students show up, ***** about it.

What specifically do you want them to do? Pretend Starkville isn't 2 hours from the biggest alumni base and play every non conference game on a Saturday afternoon against Duke or North Carolina?

I guess this touched a nerve in me. If you want a new and better arena in Jackson, write your state representatives to find tax money and fund one, because there is a zero chance the city can figure out how to get one.

Very sad attendance tonight. I went to the game in Tupelo, and not much better. Weird that 3-4000 fans can’t show up.
It’s not weird at all. Basketball now a days sucks. Every level. Even the NBA is losing popularity. In high school here In Mississippi, in a very short time, girls volleyball packs the stands out way more than basketball.

Is that a MS thing? Basketball up north is still very popular.

I don’t watch NBA but I hear the Grizz draw well.

I’d like to see us play the Jackson game at Mississippi College. Probably get similar or higher attendance in a much smaller venue which would look better on tv.

College basketball seems to be doing fine. I don’t watch the NBA.

Not sure that playing in front of 2500 people at Mississippi College (3,500) or the Mississippi Coliseum (6,500) is going to improve the optics on TV . Instead of viewers noting the small crowd they will add that MC is a small venue for a SEC team. Have you watched any of the regional basketball invitational tournaments on TV? They have one thing in common, really low attendance, so it's not just a State thing. We got to the arena about 6pm (6:30 tip off) and their were probably about 200 people in the stands. It filled out to 2500 by game time but not what you would want in your capitol city.
