Why in Hell did we shoot 38 3 pointers?

As soon as Tulo touched the ball, Utah doubled him. We had so many wide open 3-pointers we missed, so Utah never had to change their defense. They literally weren’t even guarding the 3-point line and we still couldn’t make any other than Davis. Davis was 6-9 from behind the arc. Everyone else combined for 3-29.

that was Utah's strategy to beat us, swarm Tolu and make us shoot outside, and then they would get rebounds to counter our good offensive rebounding.

we need to practice against the 2-1-2 zone defense obvously lol

Yeah, it looked like they invited us shoot from outside, and it kept them in the game.

Jans mentioned in the postgame that he was encouraging the shots. Utah committed to shutting the paint down. When you have the wide open 3’s you have to take em and make em. Luckily for us our defense saved us even though our shooting % was terrible. The good news is you really only need one guy to get warm in order for that strategy to get a win for you. Davis was that guy for us last night.

Get use to seeing it. It may be the equivalent to the drop eight. Our best offensive player can dominate five feet in so he'll be doubled every game. Until we consistently hit shots at a respectable shooting % the D will sink back. Utah didn't even worry about close out D on 3s.

On the flip side how good is this D that we could shoot that bad a % and win? The defense and effort is exciting and they look like a well coached team.....even on offense they move it well and get open shots but they just haven't been falling. If we somehow start shooting better we might be a tourney team.

There's no "might" to be found under a better FG % for this team. Those hating on Leach's Air Raid outta be lovin' this 3 yds and a cloud of dust offense. I see no way our team's FG% not getting better since we've gotta player / beast who draws double teams consistently.

Last night was the first game I watched… offense is certainly not going to be a strength of this team. However, I like what I see from the team. It looks like a team that has bought in to Jans. It also looks like a team that understands we aren’t going to be a good offensive team, so our path to a win is defense and rebounding.

You better get used to it. That's what our games are going to be like this year. You can win a lot games playing lights out defense and crashing the boards.

Yeah. They doubled and took away cutters. Teams are going to force us to make 3s. Its like playing against packed in 2-3 zone
