leaving our program? Were all these schools wrong about him as well?.............

"As the spring transfer portal opened for business on Wednesday, Mississippi State has already had a scholarship player put his name on the list.
Redshirt freshman offensive lineman JaCorey Whitted plans to make a move after just one year on campus. The 6’6, 280-pounder came to State as a tight end last year but grew into a lineman after one year. He didn’t play in a game during his time in Starkville. A McAdory (Ala.) High School standout, Whitted picked up early offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn and many others. He would commit to the Bulldogs in September of 2023."

He got moved from tight end to tackle and does not want to play tackle. I was pretty disappointed seeing this news too. I expected him to be a good tight end. Apparently he was not very productive there.

He’s 6’6” 280

Did he gain too much weight and lose enough speed to not be considered a viable tight end?

When you’re 6’8 280 somebody is always going to take a flyer on you. This dude is probably like me… I could be the size of Paul Bunyan too but I still couldn’t play in the SEC.

He never had committable offers from those schools
That's how I read it too. Early "non-committable" offers that were later pulled. If he had real offers that weren't pulled, it would have just said "offers".

We had 43 completions last year to 2 TEs and neither were named Whitted. We had more completions to RBs than TEs so......

Would love to know whether he would get playing time at OT if he wanted to do it. I love the idea of large TEs being converted to tackles. Presumably if there was a thought that they could play TE in college, they'd be athletic enough to be a Tackles if they can put on the weight.

The likelihood he had committable offers from Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida, Tenn and Auburn and chose us is low. Not unheard of but very low especially considering he isn't from Mississippi.
