Why is this an ESPN headline?

I would guess the international aspect and limited playing experience. Grew up in Nigeria and played 3 games for the NFL academy program in England.

Chris Low is the writer of that article, and is also a senior writer at ESPN. He's a die-hard lifelong Vols fan too. Privilege......
I know him a little bit. I don't know about lifelong die-hard Vols fan. He's a South Carolina boy, having once had a summer job where I worked near Rock Hill. He was married to the daughter of a friend of mine who worked at the same place - a bigtime Gamecock family. During the Fulmer years, he had the Vols beat for the Nashville Tennessean. He lived in Knoxville during those years. I consider him pretty much down the middle, however. I know he's a good guy.

I don’t care if it’s Arkansas, Bama or us. It’ an interesting human interest story. Few kids come into college football under these circumstances. Just a different angle rather than the run of the I’ll pick up the cap crap.

Yeah, you won't come across many scholarship football players were signed to play college ball with only 3 games of playing experience in England.

Yep, he was born in Missouri, raised in SC, and now lives in TN. I seem to recall/read that when he was growing up in SC, he was as much of a TN Vol fan as anything, or became one late in his youth/early adulthood during the Johnny Majors/Phil Fulmer days.....

I thought he was a good reporter. His son began following in his footsteps on one of the big sports sites, I think 247. I believe he changed course and was teaching/coaching at the high school level last I heard.
