Why was that punt not reviewed?

Why did we have a return man at all? 30 seconds. Maybe you get lucky and the ball goes in the end zone. See if you can get a chunk on first down from the 20. If you get pinned deep, take a knee and get the ball to start the half. The reward of a return man on that punt was a fair catch at the 10 with 30 seconds (unlikely to result in points). The risk was a deep turnover at the end of the half (likely to result in points).

Even if you didn’t touch it you’re going to react and tackle. They’re taught that. Look at the replay, his hands are nowhere near the ball.

He wouldn’t have scrambled after the ball like he did if he never touched it.

He absolutely didn’t touch the ball. However, he still has to finish the play because he doesn’t know what the refs are going to call. You’d think our fans would’ve learned that after our last trip to Memphis.

I just disagree with everybody. Looked to me like the ball changed direction in a way that suggests he touched it.

I agree. I thought it looked like his fingers bent a little bit which suggested he touched it. Also, his demeanor on the sideline suggested he touched it. If he didn’t touch it, he would be arguing the fact. Instead, he looked like a whipped *****, like he knew he screwed up.

should have been kick catch interference. easy call--but they didn't make it.

It was kick catch interference. Should have been a penalty. Rules expert on twitter pointed it out.

Is the "halo" rule still a thing? That's the first thing I thought of.

I didnt think so either but Terry Mcauley says you cant be within a yard if you are within the shoulders of the returner

Karma for attempting to field a punt in that scenario.

That was dumb as hell. Hands guy fielding a punt that's going to land around the 10 with 30 ticks left in a half. There's no upside and all downside. The best case scenarios is fair catch at the 10 and no shot at scoring. Just let another guy attempt a block or get involved defending that strange formation they were using.

Don’t forget the wind was whipping around pretty good last night too. No sense trying to catch that ball.

Fingers on his left hand touched it. It is clear as day. The bigger question, why is a kick team member allowed to be within 6 inches of his hands on a fair catch?

The only thing that I can think of is this: Say we don't have a return man. They down the ball within the 1 yard line. We are forced to run a play, from the shotgun, from our own endzone and risk getting a safety

The smart play would’ve been to run into the defender in his face.
