A lot of truth in that article. Its up to Sankey and Warren. Though if UND wants to dance with a permanent partner, I would doubt anyone would turn them down.

It makes too much sense. Sadly, $ rules all. Few can resist it.

I would go one step further than the article mentioned: rescind invites for Texas and Oklahoma. Realize that things are spiraling dangerously and try to restore normalcy. Just admit that you didn't foresee what the addition of Texas and Oklahoma would trigger across the college football world. Announce that you're sticking with where the league is right now and call on other league commissioners to do the same.

I doubt it, but I’d be delighted to be wrong.

Trying to keep this in the rules rails here, but consolidation inevitably ends up in chasing $$$.

My father’s industry got consolidated 15 years ago, my industry is currently undergoing consolidation and in my last industry I was a consolidator. Being on both ends I can say this. Trying to avoid being the one left out makes for irrational choices. Being the consolidator mean you have to squeeze that rag for early returns.

For years and years we the fans benefited from the TV $$$ pouring in. But now to feed that beast consolidation is necessary. I’m not trying to say one is good and one is bad. Just that there is an unintended consequence every time a paradigm is disrupted. So here we’re are.

Once consolidation starts its hard to stop - that's why I believe the suggestion of rescinding the TX and OK to the SEC deal is a good suggestion. Put it in reverse.

Maybe so. Hopefully so.

Not every earlier similar repeats itself, but history tells me (A&M and Mizzou) repercussions = less than $$$.

Also to be fair the NCAA allowed this rats nest to happen and perhaps the BIG andSEC are ready to drive the final nail into that inept coffin. Once faith in a system is lost everyone it out for themselves. Human nature.

Exactly how did the NCAA allow this? The NCAA has no authority to dictate to member schools who they can or can not associate with. And in case you have forgotten the NCAA representatives are those appointed by the universities themselves.

So you’re saying there is inside dealing? Color me shocked. (Sarcasm font).

It's all just fantasy to think that Sankey will do anything other than the expected, but at least there is some admission in some corners that this mega-expansion is is bad for college football.

There is some push back around the SEC. Need to put the brakes on.

Honestly, I’m more concerned about these out of control NIL deals ruining college football than conference realignment. I mean, a million plus deal for a dude that’s never set foot on a college football field? However, I’d be fine with the SEC sticking to 16 teams.

And just like that this article comes out, and from the same publication house, I mean what are odds (insert heavy sarcasm)

SDS sources: SEC wants to end expansion race, stay at 16 teams

Hopefully that's true. I wonder how much ESPN is calling the shots though.

Ideally, we'd see a movement to stick with the SEC as it is now, but I suppose Texas and Oklahoma are gonna happen.

Unless a highly unlikely situation occurs where both parties agree to separate. One might as well bank on winning the Mega Millions.

Insider dealing? Seriously?

Well, I guess, based on that thinking, when we joined the SEC there was insider dealing also.
