That’s a bold move for a team that’s 24-2. Eli Jones has looked good though in his mainly weekday role. He did pitch well against Mizzou last weekend. Hope it works out

I wouldn't tinker with things too much for a team that's sitting at 24-2
This is a really good move, and a really good time to do it. MSU is really struggling. And we need answers QUICK with the April we have on deck. Sanders has the highest ERA on the team, and has 2 NDs, as our ace Friday starter. No bueno. He’s 2-1 on the year, and he’s very lucky he’s not 2-3. We’re going to need much better production on Fridays against LSU, Vandy, Uk, etc…

A little tinkering this weekend is to be expected before the April gauntlet.

I thought maybe he would get one more shot against MissSt, but I can't disagree with this move. Just too many hits on him. I really hope it doesn't mess with his head. We're gonna need him.

Will he be first in when Eli needs to come out? hmmmm....

I hope you’re right. My fear is that Jones struggles under the weight of it, and MSU finds some momentum for the weekend

On a side note, MSU is starting a switch-pitcher tonight. I’ve never seen one so that should be interesting.

That's why they didn't just move the rotation up a day. Leave games 2 and 3 alone while hopefully improving game 1 performance.

I just hope they start the game with a full bullpen so if things turn bad quickly we can make a move, instead of having to wait for guys to get out to the bullpen and get warm.

I can't stand starting a game with an empty bullpen. You never know how quickly things can turn south, and you need someone ready at a moment's notice.

If so, we've been dealing with that already all year. So to me, there's really not a downside. I think he's got a ton of potential, but we've been winning despite him. Eli has been solid. I think he deserves a shot.

Mixed feelings but a good move. Like not messing with game 2 or 3. Kinda hate Jones having to do a game one to start out with but maybe he'll be fine. At least it's not LSU or UF.

Looks like a good call by Kingston. Seems like the best coaches not only know how to teach and manage, but also have a knack for pulling the right strings at the right time.

One other thing from last night’s game is this quote from Petry, “I’ve been hitting good with two strikes all year,” Petry said. “I’m not sure what it is, I guess it’s just because I can’t swing and miss because then I’d be out.”
Awesome quote, and attitude
