I think Beamer will take 5-6 more players in the portal. The question I have is do you take the best player available regardless of class or try to go for players with 2 or more years left on scholarship? If you select all seniors or graduate transfers you will have a big recruiting job next year. But I say, you have to win now even if it means taking 6, 1-year players because another 5-7 season or worse could seriously damage the program.

If it were me I'm not looking any further than next year... and I'm probably doing that every year regardless how last year ended. If a guy has two years left, fine but I'm not taking anyone out of the portal because of the class they are in. If I'm in the market, I'm looking at the best available at a specific position of need. Period.
All players are auditioning for the next higher paying gig regardless of class.
Playing more than 1-2 years at a school is history unless you are very average talent and even that is questionable.

2 or 3 years left means nothing anymore. They will jump ship asap
Taking the best player available doesn’t work in the NFL and won’t work for us either. We have to attack needs.
EDIT: I read the OP wrong. I think you have to take the best guys you can at the positions of need regardless of how many years they have left. You cannot build for the future through the TP, especially now with the multi transfer rule. Dabo got caught up in that this year. #1 criteria for his portalling was they had to be 3 year transfers bc he didn't want them leaving as grad transfers and wanted it to be as close to HS as possible. The NCAA just rendered that irrelevant.

Money will run out. Folks not gonna pour into NIL for their team to win and then kids sit out the bowl game and transfer. This thing will crash when the money stops coming in
Win now, no question. Kids want to go to teams that are winners, especially the highly talented kids. Unless a kid is a lifelong fan of a team and has dreamed of playing there his whole life, the kid is going to want to go to a place where he thinks he can develop. Talented players don't want to be on mediocre or losing teams if they can be on a winning team and everything else is equal. NIL is going to balance out for the most part unless a kid is purely "give me money now!" and I'm not sure how much teams are going to want those type of players.
He should at least act like the goal is to win now. I doubt many of the players he recruits (especially those taken via the transfer portal) are going to stick around long to watch him "build depth."
Wonder if the players ever realize that players have to actually play, then make the plays to become winners.

It will be interesting to see how extensive use of the portal by some programs will impact recruiting. Opposing coaches will certainly ask recruits why they’d want to commit to a coach who is likely to go looking for players from the portal instead of just using his recruits.
