I later found where Gamecock Central did a story indicating Wingo was being shifted to "director of program development." Sounded like a glad-handing job. I guess he prefers being a coach.

No one gets into coaching to be a program developer. Good luck to him. Glad he cut ties with that. I hope he is hired by whoever our next HC will be.

Landon Powell should be the HC of Gamecock Baseball. He brings many of the elements needed i.e. winning coaching history, recruiting, Gamecock Legacy, etc. to restore the program to prominence. Powell could build a staff with Wingo and other former Gamecocks now in coaching which would be historic.
