Jamont is gone. We have a better chance of Crooms running the spread or Polk laying down some bunts than Jamont coming back

he was quoted on 1 of the blogs the other day that he was coming back to Starkville this week. I'm sure he knows when he needs to b eback by & stay eligible.</p>

one question nobody's ever answered for me is how can Jamont get 1st round money without coming back to MSU next year. I'm not saying he would get 1st round money if he came back, but he'd have a half-way decent chance to. And I don't see any way he could get it if he stays in the draft. And why would he withdraw early last year if it wasn't to keep his options open for this year?

All that said, he still may just decide he wants to take the Monte Ellis route and make a team as a 2nd round pick.

how in the hell can anyone miss that much school and come back and stay eligible? i am not saying that you have to be able to win the mental olympics or anything like that but it has to be hard considering participation points and points missed by not being around. this is not to mention missing several exams during that time. last, i realize this is the SEC and certain things can be shoved under the table but common knowledge that he isn't here, is coming back, and ends up with all B's would typically raise the eyebrows of the NCAA.

just curious. hell i simply may not know how that system works. anyone know?

It's called make up work. If he wants to come back, they'll fabricate some make up work and he'll be eligible. And the best part is, I'm sure your compliance committee will be on top of it, so you won't have to worry about the NCAA. They'll dot the i's and cross the t's, and Jamont can go back to pretending to be a student.

syllabus said that for any test missed, those points would accrue to the final exam -- without limitation. Don't ask why I know that.

aren't masters of weighing out all the costs and benefits. Sometimes they are just tired of all the BS of school, and while they might not make as much money right now, they will make good money. Good money + no school > school + possibly more money later.

Edited to say: In a much less dramatic sense, consider my plight: I could have gotten an MBA after college. But, I was so sick of school and being broke, I was ready to earn some money and work. I could have waited and made more money with an MBA. But, it really didn't matter to me. I am thinking these guys feel the same way sometimes.

Please spare us the stories of your upper-class plight, Louis. I'm sure the trust fund has taken a small detour with all of the recent market unpleasantness, but then again, aviation fuel has always been expensive, right?

And we all know that once you attain Porkchop-level wealth, the phrase "more money" is really hard to quantify and downright meaningless.

Billy Ray and I have had to cut back -- we have to serve ourselves drinks on the private plane now to offset the cost of jet fuel.

Not aviation fuel. Jet fuel. There is a difference.

4 Absences. It's an athletic dept. rule. Players can get away with a lot, but they generally have to go to class, because it's such a visible thing. Now I'm not saying it's impossible for them to work some magic and get him eligible, but I think this lets us know with about 90% certainty what his plans are.

Croom ran a spread play in the Liberty Bowl. And spare me it was Carroll's idea because Croom allowed him to run it.
