OTOH, the attendance of 94,873 was the highest since the 2017 game when PSU/USC drew 95,128. No doubt the local organizers liked that even through the local USC fans wouldn't need to spend as much money as out of towners. That’s because all the Utah fans were physically at the game and couldn’t watch on TV.
That’s actually very sad.
I think the fact that it was the highest rated non-playoff game says a lot.Remember it was on a Monday 1\2, on ESPN instead of ABC.
It was also the highest rated non-playoff bowl, so we have that.
That's probably most of it. Not everyone had Monday off. And not everyone gets ESPiN...I dropped to a lower tier Directv package and don't get any ESPiN channels anymore.Remember it was on a Monday 1\2, on ESPN instead of ABC.
It was also the highest rated non-playoff bowl, so we have that.
it’s been on ESPN for years (since 2011) and is on 1/2 every time 1/1 is a Sunday.Remember it was on a Monday 1\2, on ESPN instead of ABC.

That's very difficult to believe about ESPN but Google agrees with you so shame on me.
I'm aware of the dates.
Either way that's the end me making rah rah posts for awhile.
You should know by now that positivity won’t be tolerated here.
Shows how much we pay attention to what's on ESPN!I hate getting busted but I deserved it.

Shocked it beat Bama TBH. They draw huge.

Most sports fans who drop cable end up getting ESPN via a streaming service instead (Sling, YouTubeTV, etc). I mean, if one didn’t have ESPN they wouldn’t have been able to watch the CFP bowls games either (along with other sports). While it may be true it’s been on ESPN for a dozen years, many people have dropped traditional cable TV in the past few years.
How do they track the millions of people that watch it and don't pay a cent for those streaming services? Most sports fans who drop cable end up getting ESPN via a streaming service instead (Sling, YouTubeTV, etc). You just described me as well....10 years ago I was a CFB junkie....now I only watch PSU.Am I in the minority that generally doesn’t watch a college game that doesn’t involve PSU? At least not more than a few minutes here and there.
I cannot tell you the last time I watched a full non-PSU game. I just don’t care enough about any other team, game or matchup to waste 3 hours on it. 10 years ago I would watch games at noon, 3, 7 and then the late West Coast game. Couldn’t get enough.
And do the rating typically slip when the rose bowl is on 1/2?it’s been on ESPN for years (since 2011) and is on 1/2 every time 1/1 is a Sunday.
I’ll never miss a PSU game but the idea of sitting down excited to watch USC and Oregon just isn’t there anymore. NIL, how Joe was disrespected, too many other competing priorities, too many games, annoying broadcasters, transfers being like free agency, dominance of the same 4 to 6 teams competing for titles, etc. - they all probably play a role in it for me anyway. You just described me as well....10 years ago I was a CFB junkie....now I only watch PSU.
I did watch the 2 semifinals this year, but didn't watch any of the CFP games last year.
Thats a good question. Because I still think that it being played on a work day for many of us and the whole cable/not cable streaming thing is involved. And do the rating typically slip when the rose bowl is on 1/2?
A tie for me.It was the highest rated sporting event (in my household) in the last 12 months.
don't give us that positive crapThe PSU-Utah Rose Bowl is the college football game with the highest TV ratings of the year.
The natural logarithm is defined only for positive numbers. Some things can’t be helped.don't give us that positive crap
LOL. We see what you did there (seeing as how "this year" is only 6 days old) - and yes, the Rose Bowl outdrew all of the other college games broadcast so for "this year", the Cotton, Cheezit, and Reliaquest BowlsThe PSU-Utah Rose Bowl is the college football game with the highest TV ratings of the year.
