I think Payton has the relationship, cache, and cajones to tell Jerruh to know his role.

That got Jimmy Johnson fired. I don't think it's going to work for Sean Payton either.

This all day long.

Jimmy Johnson built a behemoth, and Jerral wasn’t having it. He fired his former college teammate and hired that era’s equivalent to Gene Chizik.

There is not a path to the Cowboys returning to relevance without new blood taking over that franchise. And there’s zero (maybe less) percent chance that happens in my lifetime.

Agreed. He's going to be 60 next year & think he's too old to deal with that foolishness.

He won a superbowl for gods sake. Let's not act like Jimmy Johnson didn't work.

This is true, but if Sean doesnt have Mickey Loomis drafting the Marcus Colston, Mike Thomas, Jimmy Grahams, Cam Jordans, its all for naught....

Hearing “a percentage ownership” is on the table. I think owning a fraction of the most valuable team on the planet is enough to put up Jerruh.

He won a superbowl and Jerruh still wouldn't listen to him. Why do you think it'd be different with Payton?

Not that I'm betting against Payton ending up in Dallas. I think there's a good chance it will and that it will go well for a little while and then Payton will leave or get fired because Jones can't stay in his lane.

$8 million probably does not even get a call back from Payton.

According to NBC Sports:

McVay makes $15 to $18 million
Belichick makes $12.5
Pete Carroll makes $11
Kyle Shanahan makes $9.5
John Harbaugh makes $9

Payton will take an NFL job being right up there with McVay in terms of pay. Like Strat said, this will be Dallas and Jerry will pay it. Payton is proven winner.

I had no idea nfl coaching salaries had gotten up there like this. Might be something to these inflation stories I keep hearing.

I've also heard Jerry say that NFL coaches should make significantly less than college coaches because NFL head coach is an easier job.
