Maybe if he had his degree. Until such occurs, you might as well beat a dead horse because nothing else can happen.

Lets me real, most degrees in todays world are worthless - Anyone can go online pay their money and get degree without doing much of anything - What about having a degree does in matter in football - Hell most of the guys playing will never get one

It's the optics of having a guy who never finished college coaching student athletes. Yeah, we all know a lot of the players aren't here for the degree, but your coaches should still set an example.

Is he an OC somewhere now? Has he ever been one? Haven't kept up. If not I think we should stop being an entry-level school for coaches.

The vast majority of NCAA football players get their degrees. Even if you narrow it to FBS, or even just Power 5 - most players graduate.

To your other point - what does it have to do with coaching football? Nothing.

that’s why I always thought there should be a football major. Let players learn more about in-game theory, coaching, etc. They have dance majors, art majors, music majors - why not majors that are for playing/coaching specific sports?

So doesn't call plays? I think we can and should do better but with RT sounds about right.
Why would any SEC school hire an NFL RB coach that's never been an OC as an OC?

It's possible Duce already makes as much $$ if not more than most CFB OCs.

Why would South Carolina hire anybody who's never been a... Never mind.
In a bind? Low on $$? Looking for something else that wasn't a "retread"?

Shane made a huge rookie mistake. He has to rectify this or he's destine to be another former HC.

He definitely made some bad personnel decisions as a rookie head coach. But, veteran coaches make bad hires all the time. SOS made a few here. Many towards the end.

The trick is recognizing the mistake and fixing it.
