Greenville just keeps getting more and more popular!!! I can see why the SEC wants to have Greenville host (which is included in the article I'm sharing a link), NCAA regional tournaments both men's and women's.

Greenville has been good to Carolina. I hope they never stop playing baseball at Greenville's West End with Clemson.

That photo of downtown Greenville in the State Newspaper is just awesome with Reedy River following thru downtown.

I used to get a great vibe in downtown Asheville, but I think that vibe moved to Greenville...lol

I hear it’s nice up there. A friend from gville recently put their house on the market and it sold on day 2. I don’t know how often that happens other places like Columbia. But I was thinking because it’s Greenville.

I just can't get over the amount of Condo's and Apartments being built downtown. Just trying to figure out who all is moving in these things? I want to say the average price of the condo's is over 800K.

Charleston and Greenville - a lot of out of state license plates on the streets.

LOL. Nothing wrong with Greenville, but putting it on that list is a joke. Greenville city tourism director must have some serious fake news connections.

Greenville is a nice spot. However, you might be surprised at the revenue models of media outlets. City chambers pay big bucks to be included in these lists, often at the expense of long-term residents. I'd prefer the Northern transplants to keep rolling South.

I don't know, that list makes sense. Cape Town, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Greenville, SC.... Oh wait.

Give the Greenville chamber a ton of credit. They have really done a lot to bring attention to the city. With Charleston already the tourism darling of the southeast, it's cool that there may be two "destination cities" in the state.

No, not a destination - just keep rolling right on through please!

The writer (Forrest Brown) knows the area. He was at the Charlotte Observer for several years. Also is a J-School graduate of USC.

Still, a bizarre inclusion of that list comparatively.

Greenville and it's visitors bureau has been buying its way onto these types of lists for many years. While the city has received some good notoriety from it, the practice is clearly dishonest, and most likely not the way most residents would like the city to spend money.

Dishonest isn’t really a fair critique for travel lists - they’re all subjective by nature anyway.

Everyone spends something of their marketing dollars to grease some wheels in a highly competitive market. And it actually appears like Greenville is getting some good return on investment based on all the new tourism dollars that come in year over year. I’d be pleased if I lived there.

Subjective? If you mean Elgin, SC can't buy their way that's probably true. Otherwise, it's a bidder's game.

Overzealous Chamber marketing eventually turns from friend to foe. Ask any local in the Charleston, Bluffton, Beaufort, Hilton Head, Asheville, Nashville/Pigeon Forge, etc.

If you enjoy heavily bloated infrastructure/roads/property values and long waits at your favorite establishments, this is the path.

This is not what I voted for. (sarcasm)
Not my Greenville - enough is enough! Need to put the brakes on this.
