I've about lost all interest in CFB. I've been a Gamecock fan from the time I was born and have pulled for them through everything. With the transfer portal now, you cannot build a team anymore because you have to worry at the end of each year that players will be leaving and you cannot continue this. There should only be a 1 time transfer allowed with no repercussions and then after that, you sit half a year if you transfer.

The worst part is; programs like Carolina are going to be hit hardest by the transfer rules. The best players from the Carolina's of the world are going to transfer to the top programs while the players who leave the top programs are the ones who haven't panned out as expected and have better players ahead of them. The strong are going to get stronger and the middling teams are going to be mired in mediocrity forever.

I am not sure how people don’t see this. It is almost to the detriment of programs like ours to even bother recruiting. You are very likely just doing the legwork for an Alabama or Georgia to come along and take the best of your players, once you have scouted, recruited, and developed them.

At the end of the day, they only have 85 scholarships and 22 starting positions. Taking into consideration injuries and the need for some quality depth, you only need about 50 players. If you can't find 50 good players, even in this climate, I don't know what to tell you. Teams that overspend don't always win contrary to popular belief. Our issue forever has been mediocre coaching. We don't tackle. We miss blocking assignments all the time. We have talent. We consistently finish in the Top 20 in recruiting. Our development has just been lacking. Guys always take 2 or 3 years to get our system while our counterparts get true freshmen to excel all the time. That's where we are really behind. As with this year's Recruiting and Transfer Portal season, we will get good players. The question is what will our coaching staff do with them.

Does Mr. Baseball, Ray Tanner, have the baseballs to get with other ADs of similar programs to push for changes in the Transfer Portal rules and to try to have something to be legally done about the NIL? Sadly, I don't think he does. As things stand today, might as well just focus on the NFL. At least there, the worse a team is, the higher it gets to pick in the draft. Thus, the lower tier teams have a chance to move up. College football is now rigged in favor of the "haves".

Seeious Question. Does the 85 scholarship come into play with NIL? If a big money program wants an 86th player, they can pay the player enough $$ to cover his tuition/expenses + additional NIL.

Haven't heard that the NIL allows for carrying additional players.

If people can't see the longterm detriment to college football, because of the current situation, they lack the ability to see past "thier nose".

I think
Not sure I'm following.
Nothing about NIL per se relates to the number of people allowed in uniform. I would say this, if people are going to be paid to play but not to attend, I don't see how that is going to work out.

I guess Mushchamp couldn’t coach the defense during his time here , he sure seems to be doing a pretty good job now , my guess is it’s the quality of players that he’s working with now, that kinda mutes your point I think

Teams can have 125 total players, 85 on scholarship; therefore, a team could have 85 on scholarship and 40 paying their own way with NIL money.
If they are good enough to be contributors, seems they wouldn’t want to spend NIL money on tuition. Get a scholarship somewhere AND have NIL money

They might want to win championships and/or get better development or exposure for the NFL.

Uh seems to be the wrong argument to me. We had him and he was kicked off the team. Nobody can blame Molly for this one. Guess UGA wasn’t too worried about sequence of events here. Hard to comprehend.

He is the coordinator in name. Kirby Smart runs that defense IMO. So, I disagree with your point still. Muschamp has been good at DC over the years and he has been bad. So, his track record is spotty at best. Also, there is a difference in good players and the very best prospects in the country.

Rumor is, he and the coaches disagreed on redshirting. I don't know any more than that.

Yeah, he wanted to RS so he could jump in the portal and still have 4 years left. Beamer said no bc we needed him. He then refused to travel to Mizzou, so Beamer kicked him off the team. Very odd that Smart would pick him up.

I didn't know any details. Sounds like he had buyers remorse after signing with us and didn't want to stay. I think UGA was his other favorite before he signed here so maybe Kirby knew enough about him that he wanted him.
