As for the his reasons for transferring after what seemed a successful sophomore season capped by an NCAA Tournament appearance, Hansbrough, who had considered leaving Starkville after his freshman season, said, "To be honest with you, we probably don't have enough time to go over them on the phone."</p>

"There's some bigger name schools that are recruiting me now, because I've proven myself and what I could do," said Hansbrough, who averaged 10.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists and shot 36 percent from 3-point range.

Maybe Stans should recruit him, I heard we have some open scholar....oh wait never mind.
Oh well.
Maybe this will open up a whole new vista for us in recruiting.....I can hear Roy Williams now "Son I dont have a scholarship for you, but I can place you at MSU, and if you prove yourself I will have a spot for you in a few years"

Win/ win for everyone.</p>

Ben's brother is the best player in the NCAA's. Ben believes he is the second best player, and the only reason he isn't there now is because of someone/something else. It's the coach, or the school, or the practice facility, or his teammates - anything but him. So, he came out of high school a non-recruited role player and he flourished at MSU into a desirable player. So, we took the chance on him, and now he wants to take that and go somewhere else. He's just one of the Delk triplets. And here we thought there were only 2.</p>

....every year we lose a good player, and every year that player is made out to be a loser, whiner, or whatever. It's becoming my favorite spingtime ritual.

When and if Cohen leaves Kentucky, do you think the Kentucky AD's counter offer is going to be "Dont be a baby"? Or will the AD try and find a way to keep Cohen happy in KY. Maybe its not possible for Cohen to be happy in KY, but that doesnt make him a baby.
People change jobs, change homes, change schools.
If Stans wanted Ben to stay he should have found a way to make him happy.</p>

Look, dickhead. This guy played 35+ UNDESERVED minutes on a team that finished 2nd in the SEC and made the NCAA tourney. Hell yes he is a <17> *****. I don't care who's fault it was, this ******* quit on his team because he is a selfish prick.

Sure! Just think how good we could have been next year if only Stans had allowed Ben to play 39 MINUTES and jack up 20 bricks, ERRRRR shots per game.</p>

that ridiculous with the name calling. You can make your point without all that. It trashes up the board.

there's a tad more wiggle room to keep the paid employee happy. And don't get me wrong, I am totally pissed off with the all the transfers but your analogy is horrible.

study after study show that. Working conditions is WAY more important. Dont believe me look it up on the web. KY counter offer will undoubtedly focus on making Cohen feel appreciated and making his working conditions better.
Better facilites, improving chances of winning a championship etc.

For whatever reason Ben is leaving, at the root of it is that he doesnt feel appreciated or feels he can have a better environment somewhere else or a better chance to realize his long term goals. </p>

True but you are still using an analogy of a collegiate HC to a collegiate player. It just doesn't work.

that my analogy sucks.
But so does the overall implied analogy that Hansborogh tranferring is the same thing as an 8 year old quitting via a tempertantrum.
Seasons over, technically Ben's scholarship expires at the end of the semester since they are year to year deals. He didnt quit in middle of a game or the season. He just decided he didnt want to play for Stans anymore, or at MSU anymore.
He is prepared to pay the price of sitting out one year. How does that make him a baby?
Why is this his problem instead of Stans?

Apply your tampon and suck it up. Don't be a puss.

For your information, you are easily replaceable. You won't be missed if you leave, but we will support you if you decide to stay. And remember, the grass ain't always greener.

because i dont think everyone of our players is given money...

</p>not everyone...just the really good ones..there is no disputing this fact.

And Hopson is the best example of all this. Mama wanted more money, we didnt give it, he opened the recruiting back up. Tenn decided he was worth purchasing. What can we do now? Tell the NCAA he took our money and didnt sign with us?

So what's the going rate for a high school all-American basketball player these days?

MSU has the perfect coach for them in Stansbury - he buys players (or so everyone I've talked to says) but doesn't get caught, but the taint on the program is enough to ensure that bigger schools don't try to take Stans from you. Kennedy hasn't had nearly the success that Stansbury has yet we're already having to sweat out him leaving because he's "respectable" unlike Stansbury.

And I'm not saying this in a sour grapes way- you guys are making it work for you, more or less.
