Take a huge raise and go coach at your alma mater, OK State, who has a decent basketball tradition or stay at Kansas where you just won the national championship. Discuss.

for now, and wait for the big gig. You gotta believe Duke will be on the table within 2-3.

I just won a national title and Mississippi State is looking to hire me. I would leave yesterday.

OSU has what, two final fours since 95? They're not an awful program. And that money you are set for life, and it's your alma mater. Kansas fans can't be too mad, you got them a damn championship.

sorry, I watched Office Space last night... anyway, I'd do just what he's doing.. lobbying for more years and more money then stay at Kansas. OSU is nice but it's not Kansas. You can tell every recruiting class they're going to the Final Four and chances are, you won't be lying to them. OSU has a nice little program but you can't get the same caliber of player consistently at OSU as you can at Kansas.

Kansas is a "bigger gig" than Duke.

I'd take equal money to go to State. He's going to be starting over next year anyway, and I'd rather be doing it at my alma mater.

If OSU offers him as much as has been rumored, do you match it if you're Kansas?

I'm not sure I would. Bill Self is obviously a very good coach, but is he good enough to be paid double everyone else? I say no. Also, Kansas has a pretty damn good track record hiring coaches the last few times around (Larry Brown, Roy Williams, Bill Self).

Self's choice is return home to a boatload of money and the resentment that might accompany that, along with the pressure to produce. They won't be paying him that kind of coin to be in the final four of the Big 12 tournament every year. But, it is your alma mater, and you can make so much money there that you can coach til they fire you or you quit, then never work again unless you want to. That's appealing.

On the other hand OSU is not Kansas though they have nothing to be ashamed of. Kansas will be in a position almost every year to be in the Sweet 16, and every few years in the Final Four. Winning is what the coaches I know live for. The competitor in him has to like where he is now.

I think I would stay at KU for a while longer because I like to win, but maybe in 10-12 more years if that job comes open again, and the money is still on the table, then I might go for it and ride off into the sunset.

Aldridge is a true freshman (who looked pretty damn good v. unc and memphis) and only Rush is a guaranteed first round pick. Not sure of everyone's class but they are very deep and might be pretty good next year too.

They're top eight (in order of minutes played):

Mario Chalmers - Junior (could leave)
Brandon Rush - Junior (probably will leave)
Russell Robinson - Senior
Darrell Arthur - Sophomore (probably will leave)
Darnell Jackson - Senior
Sherron Collins - Sophomore
Sasha Kaun - Senior
Rodrick Stewart - Senior

"Starting over" might have been too strong, but they are losing a lot. They'll get back only 1-4 of the top 8 in their rotation, most likely 2.
Edited after help from 8Dog.

Chalmers probably back. Aldridge looked really good though. I don't think he will experience the Florida effect though.

Thing is, at Kanas he can replace those players with more McD's All Americans just about every year. They've got 4 4-star players signed for next year. He probably can't recruit to OSU like that.

Take the biggest signing bonus and salary and go home. He can win at OSU because he is a good coach and they a have a **** ton of money. To hell with the jayhawks. Its time to cowboy up.
